As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I’ve completely unpacked all the suitcases, finished the little laundry we brought home, caught up on everyone else’s trip report, and uploaded some of my trip photos. I’m still working on the PhotoPass pictures, but I’d said it’s time to get this trip report written.
My starting point is Friday, May 31, the day before our travels to Florida and Disney World.
I awoke with Luke at 6:00 AM when his alarm sounded. I was ready to attack my final to do list, including cutting out the Thank You cards, stripping the bed to wash the sheets, putting important documents in my PassPorter pockets, and adding to the suitcases. Since I was awake so early, I even had time to check the boards here while watching the Today show. I fell asleep back for about 30 minutes when June’s first call woke me up. Poor thing! The rear glass on her Envoy suddenly shattered yesterday, no idea how. John had just discovered it when he went out for a run. June and Daddy had parked the car in the driveway only about 10 minutes earlier. Then today, her washer quit mid-cycle with a full load of towels inside. The weather forecast was for rain, so she was borrowing Dad’s car to run her errands.
Once awake again, I vacuumed and mopped the tile floors and remade the bed. With all the housework successfully completed, I showered as I needed to leave the house at about 11:45 for my mani/pedi, a very relaxing way to spend two hours of an afternoon right before vacation. I even got to see Luke who had a haircut at 12:30 in the same salon. We got to the same hairstylist. In case anyone cares (and because I wrote it in my notes), my fingernails were painted OPI Pedal Pusher and my toenails were painted OPI Pompeii Purple. Shelly finished up with my nails at about 2:15 PM. Back at home, I moved our towels from the washer to the dryer, finished packing each suitcase, read trip reports, and basically just waited for Luke to get home.
When he got home, we checked the bags, zipped each up, and added the DME tags. He set timers in a couple of rooms while I kept waiting for the dryer and dishwasher to finish and when they did, I quickly unloaded, folded, and hung them back in the bathroom. Luke got the suitcases into the Edge. Before hitting the road to Glasgow, we ran to the credit union to exchange some coins that Stefanie had collected. The total came to $22.01.
I took the first turn behind the wheel. We had just gotten on the Owensboro bypass when June called to check on our progress. We told her we were on the way, but we were stopping in Bowling Green to go to the mall. She told us to go ahead and eat while there as she was at Daddy’s trying to finish her laundry. About 45 minutes later I gasped as my brain finally reminded me that I had not gotten the Vaughns’ and Daddy’s gifts out of the scrapbook room. Grrr! Luke said I could do whatever I wanted. Fortunately, we were just feet away from an exit, so I turned us around and we headed back home. On the way we decided to run through a fast food place at home and eat as we retraced our route.
Forty-five minutes later we were home again. I immediately got the gifts and put them in the car. Luke got gum for the flight that I’d also forgotten. And we had a bathroom break. Then we were on the road again , stopping at McDonald’s for dinner. I had a grilled chicken snack wrap that I didn’t finish as the chicken had two different and odd textures, part gristle and part freezer burn. Luke had two McChicken sandwiches, one of which I ate a bite of as his chicken was good. We shared a large fry, too. At about the same spot on the bypass, June called for another update. She had a good laugh and then said she and John were now at a Laundromat while their towels finished up. Neither of us like to leave dirty laundry when we go on vacation. As June so aptly said, “We’re so ready for this vacation.”
Once we arrived in Bowling Green, I made a mad dash into VS for a racerback bra. Within 15 minutes we were back in the car, making a stop for gas as it was 20 cents cheaper than at home, and I’d caused us to use more at the start of trip than planned.
Finally at 9:30 we made it to June’s house. I gave out the gifts that we’d had to return for, and helped June get some laundry done. I eventually made it to bed at 11:30. I had sent Luke off to bed earlier as he’d had to work all day.
What a start of a vacation! Luke is a good sport; I dont think my DH would turn around 45 min into a trip... I hope June's car & laundry were able to be fixed. I cant wait to hear more!

What a pain to have to return for the gifts, but it's a good thing you remembered before getting all the way there! Sounds like both you and June had more "interesting" days than you'd planned on. Looking forward to hearing if you have to break out your whistle on the first morning!
I'm looking forward to your trip report! I must admit, you have a really good husband for 1-turning around and going back to get something you forgot, and 2-just for going to Disney with you! My husband is not a Disney fan at all, which is why my daughters and I are taking a "girls only trip" in 6 days! Hopefully I can read about YOUR trip before we go, if not I hope to catch up on our return! Hope you had fun!
That was some start. My wife seems to expect that I will always forget something when we leave. I don't believe that I have ever remembered something 45 minutes after we left. What you had forgotten was very important. It was nice that Luke knew the value and also that you had enough time to add over an hour to your trip. Your group pic is great. You sure had your hands full planning for everyone.
