Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Thumbs up Nice Resort

We stayed at French Quarter last month and really enjoyed our stay. The theming of the resort was right on. You really had the feeling of being smack dab in the middle of New Orleans. The pool are was great...........my ds-2 loved the slide and the kiddie pool. The rooms were nice enough for a moderate. My only complaint would be the thick layer of dust that coated EVERYTHING from the dressers to the bathroom floor which had the previous guest's hair on it.(oh well, at least your at disney!!) The food court was nice. They had some good choices but the highlight for us was the chalkboard, leggos and crayons that ds always wanted when ever we passed by. The busses were ok. After the first day we decided that a taxi would work best for us and went with that for the remainder of our stay.

All in all, I would most certainly stay at FQ again. I think it is a beautiful resort and for the price you can't go wrong!!!

I'm afraid that I can tend to be a bit of a resort snob when it comes to the Disney resorts with a huge preference for Disney's Deluxe and Vacation Club resorts. So, when I knew that I was going to be staying at POFQ, I assumed that it would be okay but nothing really special. Boy, was I wrong!

From the minute we checked in until the moment we left again, two weeks later, our stay was nothing short of magical. I was very impressed with the small, compact layout of the resort and I hadn't expected the grounds to be so breathtakingly gorgeous. The bus service was excellent, the hot tub area was enchanting, our room was comfortable and beautifully decorated and all of the cast members we encountered during our stay there were fantastic. In short, I adored this resort. For me, it had more of the feel of a deluxe resort than a moderate one and I wouldn't hestitate to stay here again in the future.

Loved it...

let me start by saying that the pictures don't do it justice. the resort is absolutely gorgeous. we were in room 5339 and they list it as a courtyard view but we could see the sassagoula river from our room. we were close enough to the main building and transportation wasn't a problem. mousekeeping did a wonderful job and was very pleasant. we even got to watch our mousekeeper make animals for other people. it was so delightful. all the cm's that we encountered were amazing and very nice and down to earth. it was wonderful and i am already planning our next trip around next christmas to the wonderful resort of POFQ...

My favorite moderate. The pool is very kid friendly. The resort is small, so nothing is more than a 5 minute walk. The theming is fabulous, as is the boat ride to DTD. POR is 10 minutes walk away, and a very pleasant walk along the river it is

We really loved POFQ! It was so quaint with is little "streets"! I loved all the little touches....landscaping and the way things like the jacuzzi were kinda tucked away! The CM's were all wonderful, everything was clean and tidy. It was easy to navigate the resort. Themeing was great, but I wish there would have been a bit more Disney....like the statues on the walkway to the pool could have been Disney characters dressed in Mardi Gras garb. But we loved it none the less and I guess it is kinda nice to get away from characters in your face. As for the value...we got great discounts, so our stay was cheaper than rack rates. Is it really worth it...I'm still debating that one. The room itself was not much bigger, though the bathroom area is bigger and two sinks is nice. The bus service was good...but there were times the bus was very crowded, just like any other resort. And most times, our stop wasn't much closer to the park entrances than stops for the value resorts were.

We loved it!

POFQ was awesome. The feeling at this resort was so special. It really felt like we were in a New Orleans neighborhood, with parks and gardens around each corner. The stroll along the river to POR was delightful. We were in Building 5 on the far side facing away from the pool. I think this was a blessing because the main pool at POR was undergoing rennovations and there was tons of traffic at POFQ's pool because of it. We had a quiet room right around the corner from the pool bar and laundry on the first floor - another blessing because we brought 2 single strollers. My DH's family was just as pleased as we were. We were all given rooms along the first floor of Building 5, making the resort feel all the more like a little neighborhood to us. Walking anywhere we were bound to bump into someone we knew. It was so much fun. My sons (6 and 5) LOVED the pool and slide. The playground was right out in the middle of things, not tucked away in a far off corner of the resort hard to find. We loved that. The arcade was sizeable - bigger than the one at WL. The food court offered quite a few different selections for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Though building 7 did seem to be a little bit if a walk to the heart of the resort, it was nothing like the walks at some of the other moderates. It was really the only building I'd complain about staying in. The ferry was a sweet ride to POR, and convenient for breakfast ay Boatwrights. We never had any trouble with the buses. Everything was timely - and this was during the most packed week (president's week) I've visited in my adult life. The rooms could have been cleaner, but whatever we requested of Mousekeeping was taken care of immediately. Bell services was fast and friendly. Chris, the door man with the coins, was so sweet and kept my kids entertained all week. We loved coming "home" at night to the live music at Scat's. Overall, this was a huge hit! We will definitely stay at POFQ again and again. It was leaps and bounds better for us than AKL!

Smile POFQ

We stayed at POFQ last Sept. 2008 and had a wonderful stay. We went back to the room for naps ( We have a 3 year old) every afternoon and it was very quiet. Our room was already cleaned by housekeeping, which was also nice! Mousekeeping did a wonderful job.

We also liked the landscaping and lay out of the resort. The resort was very relaxing after a long day at the parks. We stayed in builing 5 which was very close to dining, the pool and the buses. This is a plus after walking all day in the parks! My boys ages 3 and 7 loved the pool and slide.

The only con for us was the food court. The wait was long and the food was not great. One time the bun for a hamburger was stale and hard. Breaksfast was good.

My mother in law went with us and also enjoyed POFQ and the layout of the resort and the proximity of our room to amenties.

My husband and I love this place!

My husband and I are currently staying in Port Orleans French Quarter right now for our honeymoon. We are seriously considering booking our anniversary trip before we leave for next year so we can request the same room that we have currently. We are in Building 2 room 2223 which is an end unit with a king size bed ( was extra charge for king) but definitely worth it. Everyone we have talked to loves this resort and working here. These resort is definitely worth its price for its value.

We loved this resort

This was our first stay at POFQ and we loved it there. We normally stay at WL but due to 2 stays this year and the current economy we opted to stay at POFQ and we couldn't have been happier with the decision. Checked in online and when we arrived at the resort our package was ready and waiting for us and we made our way to our room, which had a nice view of an internal courtyard with two resident bunnies. Mousekeeping was great, even delivered two extra blankets within five minutes of calling. We got a towel french poodle and multiple arrangements of pillow art. Even when busy, Sassagoula wasn't overly noisy or crowded, always a table to be found. Had a few issues with no shows where the buses were concerned but a CM was on hand to call a bus when one failed to show and then the bus was sent direct to the park in question without stopping at Riverside. Boat ride to Downtown Disney was great. Very relaxing resort. Lots of people at the resort but not 'busy'. People seemed much more laid back at this resort and always willing to share a 'hello' or a 'good morning'. Loved the landscaping, especially the little courtyards tucked away in amongst the buildings.

We just returned from our 1st stay at POFQ. The pool is good size. DD7 loved the slide. The food court was GREAT! Lot's of choices, and very good size.
I did like the fact that the food court was seperate from the gift shop. The rooms are a fairly descent size for the amount of time you actually spend in the room. The beds, although only doubles, worked for the few days we were there.
The boat service to DTD was fantastic. Very relaxing. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

We have stayed there 4 times and have always be very pleased. Everyone is so warm and friendly, willing to go the extra mile for you. This last trip the bellman brought our boxes to ship home to the lobby for us. When they arrived, he had written "hope you had a safe trip home" on them. The food court is great for those quick meals you need. We have stayed in Deluxe in Disney and love it, but home will always be POFQ
