Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Our trip reports are kinda different. We have input by both of us. Generally Brent starts them and puts out the framework, then I chime in with the details that he leaves out. This most often consists of the things he did to embarrass himself, or me! I think he just forgets themů.sigh.

A little history here, I have wanted to be at Disney on my birthday for many, many years. I always avoided it because of a few things. One, I am a nurse and getting that time off is unheard of in this profession. Second, I have heard the crowds are just horrible. So this year, at age 29 with a few years experience I AM DOING IT!!!
We were pleasantly surprised when we got to the park, Magic Kingdom at that, that it was not closed to capacity on any level. We expected bigger crowds late morning so we were thrilled. It was busy but nothing like what we expected.
Brent covered the day great. I just want to add some pics.

Here is a pic coming out of the park exit by Crystal Palace, we were coming out the door area that the parade uses. I JUST LOVE this view of Town Square and the Christmas tree.

Couple pics of dinner. I had to have the Gray Stuff! I had the Braised Pork (Coq au Vin ). I am sure Brent had the steak but he must have been hungry and dived right in since I didn't get a pic of that. LOL

Also, my Disney friend Tiffany was there at the same time so we met up with her for the first time of the trip. Was great to see her!! Disney AND friends! Yay!

Few more pics from the parade:
I love Reindeer and Toy Soldiers!
And the Big Guy himself!

And of course my fave Princess and her boys.....give this girl credit for taking on the responsibility of 8 men. Some days one is more than I can handle.

Sunday December 27 Epcot then back to the Magic Kingdom.

Woke up early this morning and made my walk to the Food court to get coffee and walk around the resort. Wound up on the bridge so I found a bench and finished my coffee. Love doing that. It’s so peaceful. We wound up at Epcot well before 8 in plenty of time for park opening which turned out to be a good thing because after my bag got checked I was quickly ushered over for additional screening. I think it went something like this: “Sir, you’ll need to come this way, we need to ask you a few questions” Next thing I know they’re asking me all kinds of questions about the pictures on my shirt and my Cinderella tattoos and necklace and oh yeah she’s on my magic band too. They were all very friendly though. They were just smiling and talking with me and laughing! Real Friendly bunch! I think Liz has pictures she may be good enough to show you folks.

Once we were done getting acquainted with my new friends, we finally got in the park and went on Soarin. Liz had a bit of a mishap with the seat belt. I think because she has such small dainty legs she had to use the kiddy strap? How did that go,Liz? Then it was Living with the Land. Next I wanted to do Mission Space next, so Liz decided to get a muffin. We then had a picture taken by the big tree then strolled around the world.

I seem to remember a funnel cake and a caramel apple in there somewhere, am I right,Liz? I do recall we were both surprised at the lack of crowds at Epcot this morning.

Then it was back to Pop so Liz could take a nap and I could swim. Just had to take a picture! I also felt moved to take a shot of our room window. Guess who the dolls belong to, me or Liz?

Then it was on to the Magic Kingdom for dinner at Tony’s. I'll leave the food review to Liz. Then we caught the tail end of the castle show. This is Liz when she saw the reindeer. She was fascinated and amazed. ????

Then we headed to the Haunted Mansion but we saw Peter Pan so we had to stop for a visit. He was flawless. We told him what she said yesterday about how she wishes he would treat get like a princess. He said he might if she told better bed time stories. He said it wasn't her fault though. She can only express one emotion at a time and it's usually anger. Somehow he also knew Liz spilled chocolate on her shirt earlier that day. Interesting.

Next we rode a couple rides including Liz favorite: Haunted Mansion and found a reasonably uncrowded space in back of the castle to watch Fireworks. After they were over, our fastpasses to see the Princesses were due, so off we go to see Cinderella! I greeted her properly as a princess should be greeted and she was very impressed. She said I was more charming than Prince Charming. I replied “I was Prince Charming back at the Halloween party.” and showed her a picture in my book from the party. That was obviously the one I had her sign.

Then Rapunzel asked Liz if she was keeping up with her Frying Pan lessons. I interrupted and said it’s just better for everyone if Liz leaves the frying pan and all cooking utensils alone! She also said my blue shoulder bag which Liz calls a purse is indeed a satchel. And she should know right???

Liz found a new friend too!

Then we headed over to Tomorrow land to ride the people mover and Carousel of Progress. Had an Ice Mocha, then our Mine train Fastpasses were due. Rode that then called it another good day!

Next up: Opening Magic Kingdom and then the Studios. Liz has a brush with the Dark Side… Stay Tuned!!

Your meal at BOG looks so yummy, Liz. I totally agree that Snow White is my hero, putting up with 8 guys.

Definitely another great day, Brent! I love how your days are full of fun and relaxing both.

After I tell you, you will prob realize that you walked by it several times. LOL. It just sort of blends in.
When you take the bridge over the water from Future World to the World Showcase,
you walk under the monorail. Its right there where you would have to go left or right to walk around the World Showcase.

Ohhh, here, I just found the pic I took to compare tree and no tree. I will post the comparison later in the TR but this is a great pic of where it was! Just past the monorail.
