Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Nice story and plans. If only I look really that good, most likely I'll be working in Disney acting as Peter Pan or other male characters.

Monday, June 26th. Resort and Epcot Day.

This was a much deserved day to get caught up on sleep as we weren’t going to go to Epcot until later in the afternoon. I think I woke up @ 8 and by that time Claire was up. We decided to walk over to POFQ to get Beignets. Well I decided that we should walk over and made her come with me. The walk, while beautiful, was extremely hot. We got our Beignets and headed back to our room. It’s really a great use of a snack credit, I think we got 6 all together and they’re very filling.

Back at our room, we ate our breakfast and slowly made our way to the pool. The reason we love staying at POR is the pool. It has both sunny and shaded areas. We scored a couple of lounge chairs in the back in the shady area. This spot proved to be our pool home for the entire trip as we lucked out most days in getting the same lounge chairs.

I got everyone lunch at the Riverside Mills food court. Patrick got the Chicken nuggets which are now deemed the honor of “Disney has the best chicken nuggets and French fries”. Natalie got the Shrimp Salad Po’ Boy, I got a tossed salad and I think Claire got a Roast Beef sandwich. All were very good!

We then got ready to head over to Epcot. We decided to drive over as I know the bus service stinks in the afternoon to get to the parks and we were running late. We lucked out that we got a great parking space very close to the park I think one row away from the handicap parking spaces. The plans for today were to mainly do world showcase although I had FP’s for Character spot and Pixar short films that we missed. We did go on Seas with Nemo when we entered the park and then started walking around the world.

Our next FP+ was for Frozen. We got in line and of course, the ride broke down. They handed us paper fast passes which turned out to be great because MDE also issued us an anytime FP so we ran over to Test track to go on before our dinner reservation. On the way over to Test Track, we saw the best sight. The globe for Illuminations was being brought in. It was very cool to see it up close.

Our choice for dinner tonight was at La Hacienda San Angel. We were really looking forward to this and it did not disappoint. We were seated at a booth and our server took our drink orders. I can’t think of the names of the dishes but they were very good. Again not everyone wanted dessert.

After our dinner, we were able to use our Frozen FP. I really enjoyed the ride and thought it was well done and kept to the Disney theming. When we walked out to the ride, Illuminations was starting. I’m not sure why, but we didn’t stay and watch it but elected to get to the front of the park and kind of watch it. I think Patrick wanted to beat the crowds leaving.

Glad to see the return of your TR!

A great day for everyone and seems like everyone had a great time! Great thinking of getting the beignets over at the FQ as they are so good there. They do make a bit of a mess with so much powdered sugar! Great choices for lunch and dinner looks good with La Hacienda as dined there twice and really enjoyed it! You got some attractions in and hoping to do Frozen for the first time in two weeks now! Nice photos but a bit overcast. Patrick certainly towers quite some over his GF Natalie. He must be over 6 ft now.

I'm glad I've returned to write my trip report! Everything is settled with the kids both in school so no excuses not to do it. Patrick is actually 6'3" although he'll say he's 6'2 because to him that sounds better

Sorry for the long delay on the trip report, but I want to finish this not only to remember the trip but also because I'll have another one coming out shortly

Tues, June 27th Animal Kingdom
We woke up and got ready for our day at AK. I wanted to make rope drop (something I’ve never been able to do) so I rushed the kids along. We got to the bus stop and it was really crowded. I was thinking to myself usually the bus isn’t crowded for rope drop then I realized that AK opened at 8 and I thought it opened at 9. To my defense which I forgot to mention before, before we left home for the trip I downloaded my Disney spreadsheet of plans onto google docs so I could bring my plans up on my phone and ipad. Well, surprise, surprise... google doesn’t transfer times well. All of my ride time were in a non legible form. Anyway, when we got off the bus and started walking towards the turnstile I saw a celebrity. Our very own Passporter Jen. She was with her daughter Claire. We got right behind them in line and I introduced myself and the kids. We spoke for a few minutes and then they saw an opportunity to go in a quicker line. I didn’t realize it and lo and behold we got separated. It was really nice to meet her in person.

Our first FP was FOP from 9:05-10:05 but according to my plan for the day, we need to go on Safari and ride EE 2xs. We ran over to Safari and had a wonderful trip seeing lots of animals.

We made good time until we went on EE the 2nd time. There was a long wait. By the time we got out it was about 9:50 so we booked it over to Pandora and luckily made our FP time. When I told the kids about Pandora they really were not into it at all, the movie was too old, it wasn’t really that good etc etc. Well let me tell you, after we rode the ride, they became believers. It was truly an amazing experience.
Because we were still playing catch up we kept having to rush from ride to ride. We rode PW before out FP to Dinosaur 10-11 and then our 3rd FP to EE 11-12. Being on the tail end of every FP time made our day a bit stressful.

We decided to have lunch at a favorite of ours Restaurantosaurus. We really like their burgers but I think this time Patrick and Claire went with their new favorite’s Chicken Nuggets and Natalie went with a Black Bean burger. She’s kind of a vegetarian except when she eats over and I serve meat. While we were eating I was able to get a FP for Kali River Rapids. We walked through Gorilla Falls. I love this place except for the fact you have to go through the bird part. I am extremely afraid of birds so it’s somewhat of a scene when I go through there. The reward is seeing those adorable gorillas. It was very crowded so we didn’t get to spend as much time as we’d like. Kali River was an enjoyable ride since it was so hot out. Oh yeah, I chickened out and put a poncho on.

We were really beat and they were really wet from the ride so we headed back to the resort. I got changed and headed to the pool and had a delicious FAB.

I don’t think the kids came to the pool or they did and couldn’t find me and then went back to the room. One thing about myself vs my kids is that I hate lying around a hotel room. My kids on the other hand LOVE lying around a hotel room and watching TV. I think it’s such a waste of vacation time, but if they want to watch Law and Order for hours straight I guess I can just do my own thing.

It was then time for us to get ready for our dinner at California Grill. As it seemed to be the case practically every night around 5 or 6 it would start to rain and the rain would last until 7 and maybe as late as 8. We decided to drive over since it was raining and then valet park because it was really coming down.

Nice update and you got a lot done in the AK. Glad you enjoyed FOP so much! Funny, with your kids lying around the hotel room watching TV. Like you, I spend very little time in my room as I want to enjoy my vacation and see and do so much!
