Has the novelty already worn off?

So I'm at work actually triple devicing it today (the touch screen register, my iPad and the Disney Device ) and I have the device on MDE. I have to say that I am totally shocked. Toy Story Land opened on Saturday with 5 hour waits for Slinky Dob. Right now, it's only at 90 minutes. The Saucers are at 40 and TSM at 25. Either everyone is at the other parks (but those waits didn't seem bad either - Mine Train was at 105 minutes), a ton of people have left for the afternoon or the novelty has already worn off and people are avoiding TSL for whatever reason. I personally hope it continues as I'd much rather deal with 90 minute waits next month when we go than 300 minute waits.

I noticed the same thing yesterday - I think at 12:00pm, it was showing 80, 60 and maybe 50 minutes for the Toy Story Land attractions? I was shocked at how low those waits were. The Pandora rides were both longer than all of those..

Isn’t it funny that we think a 90 minute wait is downright tolerable for a new attraction?

I’ll admit I’m surprised by this. I figured TSL would be swamped for months. Maybe it’s the holiday? More people tend toward MK on and around July 4. I guess we’ll know for sure over the next few days.

In any event, we are looking forward to visiting TSL, but that likely won’t happen until late next year. By that time, maybe it will all be 30 minutes or less!! Personally, I still think they should’ve added one more attraction and indoor dining.

ETA...Also, people could be underwhelmed at the attraction selections. Flight of Passage was groundbreaking, and Navi River Journey is immersive in its theming. As cute as it all is, TSL has a standard family coaster and a re-theming of the Mater ride at DCA. I’ve seen reports and comments that Disney “phoned it in” with TSL. Perhaps some people aren’t all that impressed with the effort, as you proposed, Darlene.

Maybe these rides load quicker or have a greater capacity?

Our family likes TSM so I hope the Toy Story Land will help make the line shorter for TSM.

It mY also be that people were afraid of parks closing g for capacity on the holiday so they wanted to be at either MK or Epcot for the fireworks. Time will tell but I do think we will see longer waits in the near future but for now I too am surprised.

I suspect some folks took a long weekend for Independence Day but are now getting back home, and alot of locals descended on TSL for opening day. It is odd, but is good news for those of us with trips planned later.

The weather has been very rainy/thunderstormy here the last few days. Slinky and Aliens may be shorter due to people not wanting to wait outside in the rain??

Minemoz1 made a good point. The weather has been the typical rainy season type of weather - lots of storms and rain - especially in the afternoons. It actually has been very heavy downpours!! Both Slinky and Aliens have been shut down during those downpours. I have a friend there now and they decided to wait to go to the Studios until after 5 due to the weather. They got in the line for Slinky and the wait time listed was 80 minutes. They waited about 30 and a storm with heavy rain and crazy lightning came up and they shut down the ride.
Another interesting thing that is happening, they are opening the park very early right now. I read a post on FB yesterday that they were told the busses were running 2 hours earlier than normal. And they are letting people in the park and into Toy Story Land very early to accommodate the crowds.
I think this new area will be busy for a long time! I think Disney learned how crazy busy new attractions are when they opened Pandora! Maybe they figured out they needed to adjust schedules to accommodate the crowds!

Interesting. It's good there is a chance for people who couldn't get a FP or didn't know to book ahead.

How does that work if you have already booked 3 for the day?

I'm guessing you would have to modify the Tier 1 FP you already have to change it to the ride and time you want if there is availability. That is how it normally works.
