My grandmother used to live in the area and we loved Frances Langford's Outrigger Restaurant, now called the Dolphin Bar & Shrimp House. The building is wonderful and the location is great for those who love watching boats. Haven't eaten there since it changed hands so I can't speak to the current food.
We also enjoyed visiting the House of Refuge Museum (they used to have baby turtles there) which was a place for travelers and shipwrecked sailors to seek safety back when Florida was sparsely populated. You can walk around outside without buying an admission ticket.
