Minnie Van users - how do you pay to use the service?
I'm not overly tech savvy but I've been comtemplating using the Minnie Van service. I know I need to have a Lyft app - can I get that through Google for my Android device? Once I have it, I've read that I can open it up and request a Minnie van but I'm sure it's not nearly as simple as that. How does it get paid for? I saw one review a while ago showing something in that app that says pay but how does it work? Especially at Disney. I would only use the Minnie vans, not other drivers, and I don't trust the security of devices with credit card info. I do nothing financial with either device - not even online ordering.
So for those that have used the service, can you walk me through it from requesting one to paying for it? I'd like to have a much better understanding of it before getting there and possibly looking like an idiot due to not knowing what I'm doing.
One more question - do I absolutely have to use the app to request and pay or is it something I can do from the front desk and pay that way? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the drivers aren't allowed to have cash so that leads me to believe there is no paying cash to them.
Any and all tips/experiences/tricks will be greatly appreciated.
I have never used Lyft or the Minnie Van Service, but I am pretty sure that you have to have a credit card tied to your account and the fee is automatically charged to your CC.
But I’d be interested in other’s experiences as we may use the service sometime in the future.
Creating a Lyft / Uber account requires a cc to be linked to the account. So yes in a sense it's as easy as opens by the app and requesting a ride but only after you've created an account. When a ride is requested you are quoted an estimated cost and once you arrive at your destination your cc gets charged with a confirmation email sent. I have no direct experience with Minnie Van, only regular Uber/Lyft
You do have to download the app and set up an account, linking a credit card to your account. Once you are ready for your ride, you open up the app and change the type of ride. Typically, you'll see the various size cars, so you have to be on property to see the Minnie van option. Once you've selected your ride, you set your pick up location and where you want to go.
The area for pickups is not always clearly marked, but our Minnie van driver called us and told us where to meet him (we were waiting by the regular Lyft/Uber pickup area, but we needed to be over by the busses at AK). I think the location isn't the same every time, because we did see a Minnie van by the regular area - although our driver said they are not supposed to pick up there.
Once your ride has concluded, they "end" the ride on their device and then you are charged, and you can add a tip.
I will note that this is all done through the regular Lyft app - there isn't a special app for the Minnie vans.
If there is somewhere you really need to go or the bus line is really long, this is definitely worth it. Its pricey, but it is a private vehicle and you get dropped off right where you need to be. Our driver was amazing and very friendly.
So the account that has to be set up - does it need to be set up through the app or is it something I can set up with my PC (and all it's firewalls, security programs, etc) and then just tap on the app to open like I can with my Weight Watchers account?
Okay, so I just did a very quick search for Lyft and we can't use the service. I don't have a Smartphone and the site specifically says you cannot use a wifi only enabled device - which is all I have . You can only use the Lyft app with a device that has cell service and a phone number.
