Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Coronado Springs or Wilderness Lodge?

Hi, I am starting to plan our next vacation. DH, me , DD8, DS6, DDinfant.
we are planning to go 2 years from now when the youngest is 2. I was considering going next year when she is 16 months old but I am not sure if she is too little . Has anyone taken there child at 16 months??
We have stayed at the poly, CSR, CBR, POFQ. Our favorite is CSR. so we are considering going baCK to CSR which is great . Recently I have been thinking of trying something new. I was thinking of staying at the wilderness lodge. The wilderness lodge is more affordable than some of the other deluxes. Plus we love the boat ride to magic kingdom. I feel with a family of 5 we will never be able to stay here again. WL has a maximum of 4 in a room with a child under 3 in a pack-n-play. When my daughter turns three this resort is no longer an option. at that point we would probably book two connecting rooms at CSR, or consider other options.

i want to try WL at least once, but at the same time we love csr and cant wait to go back , plus this is the last time we can get away with getting only one room at CSR.

we would still be within our budget for this vacation but will spend a bit more on the hotel portion and my daughter will be 10 and when purchasing park tickets she will be pay full price .
we never spend all day at the parks. we like to stay at our hotel , go in the pool and then hit the parks . We like our down time as well as our park time. we would be spending time at the resort.

we know about CSR , i would love to hear some of your experiences with the wilderness lodge. likes, dislikes, . Best location for family with stroller, etc. i have looked online and read about it but I still can't make up my mind. I like to plan ahead because at least I know how much we need to save for the trip.
your feedback would help me make up my mind.
Feedback would be greatly appreciated. which resort do you think I should choose??
would like to hear your experinces with the wilderness lodge?? do u think we would be more comfortable at the WL as opposed to CSR due to having the pack n PLAy??

Thanks again for your help?? sorry my post is so long.

I might be a little biased because I love the WL but that would be my choice. Like you said, once your youngest turns three, a regular room there won't be an option for you so it sounds like a great time to try it out. I did enjoy Coronado but it is quite spread out, at the WL it feels like everything is closer together. Plus, as you said, the boat transportation to MK is convenient.

The one area where I think CS beats out WL would be the pool. The pool area at WL is nice but on the small side compared to CS. The pool slide is small but my kids loved it when they were smaller so it may still be okay for your kids.

Whatever you choose, have a great time!

We have taken our kids when they were a year old. We stayed in a Jr. Suite at CSR a couple of times when our kids were that age. CSR worked good for us because the older kids would go to the main pool and we would take the little one to the quiet pool. It was so hot on one of the trips we spent most of the time in the resort pools.

I think you should do WL since it's the only trip where all of you will be able to stay in one regular room.

I've stayed at CSR three times and WL three times, and like both resorts a lot. The room size at WL is not much different from CSR, but I like the fact that everything is on one building and therefore more convenient.

Good luck deciding!

I took my boy at 14mo and he basically slept through everything. every time we thought okay he'll like this one, (usually dark rides, fantasyland style) he would get in the dark and immediately fall asleep. It was fine because the point of the trip was for him to meet his cousins who live in Florida and whom he had never met. But when we went back a year later he really had a great time. And we bought him a great star wars pin of Yoda being too short to ride that says "judge me by my size do you". This year he'll be tall enough to ride (can't wait) and his baby sister will be 4mo (eek).

As to the resort question, I've never stayed at FWL but I have stayed at the Cabins @ FW (awesome for families since it sleeps 6, and one you might consider instead of two rooms once your family grows up a bit. Down side: one bathroom. Up side: Kitchen, own private cabin, porch, BBQ grill, boat to MK) also if the lack of 2 bathrooms is a deal breaker, the Family suites at ASMusic has 2 bathrooms and also sleeps 6 although the downside to that is the distance of the value resorts from everything else (really not much farther than CSR though) and the pool is fine but of course no slide.

I have stayed at both and prefer CSR. MY DD prefers WL. I think for me the downside to WL is I found it very noisy. Whispering Canyon is very loud and it resonates. It is also very large so although in one building, I think walks can be longer than at CSR. I have stayed in Casitas at CSR which s very close to El Centro. We have stayed on the MK side of Wl, which had a lovely view but it was a hike to Roaring Forks, which I did not like. When we arrived late, it was filthy and had limited offerings still available. Nothing like arriving after some long delays on a flight and having to scrounge for food. I also felt some of the food was not good. I remember that first meal, getting a pizza for my DD who was in high school at the time and note a fussy eater but she said the pizza was inedible.

I have arrived at CSR late evening and we have been able to get fresh counter serve from the Pepper Mill, which I think is the best resort counter serve.

Thanks for the feedback . We love CSR Found the pepper market
To be great. I will consider what your saying when making my
Decision , especilly the noise factor . When we stayed at CBR we weren't happy with The food court and kept wishing we stayed at CSR .

We love both WL and CSR. With kids, I'd go with WL; CSR is a very large resort. Ask for a room near the elevators

I think WL would be more fun for younger kids. My kids are older and we prefer CSR because it's quieter and we like the resorts that are spread out because we love to walk, but we still love WL.

First off, my family took my brother at 16 months and he was great! Also personally I would stay at WL. It is so close to Magic Kingdom, it has a great pool, and the kids will love it. I'm pretty sure that one morning of your stay you are invited to put the flags up on the top of the hotel! It was a great experience for my brother even though he was still little and it was a really nice touch! The WL is a great hotel and I think you and your family would really enjoy it!

Gabriella,

I just wanted to correct some information about being "flag family". Only one family is asked each day so the odds of getting to be that family ar pretty slim. The post made it sound like everyone got a chance. To me it wouldn't be a major factor as to where I stay, but wanted to make sure yu wouldn't be expecting it.

Also on all my CSR stays, we were offered rides on gold carts by CMS. We were never far out so didn't take them but it can cut down on walking. I also rent a car so we were able to drive around from place to place. The parking lots are pretty close to the rooms.

Check out my CSR website below for info and pics. We just got back from staying in the business club level and thought the lounge and room location made it a perfect spot to stay.
