I'm sorry about the way the social worker treated you. I guess the more important thing is that you liked the two doctors that you met with and there is now a plan in place!

In my mind, the doctors were the most important. As a person with experience in medical field, I know where to find services. Plus, as I said, my ddil is a social worker as well.

I am so glad that you are following up to have the issues with the social worker addressed. And your husband talking to his doctor is a great idea.

When I was sick my DDinlaw, a physician, would either address concerns about my care with a doc or the head of the department. At first I wasn't so sure about going to the head of nursing, but it did make things better. I think sometimes people don't take the time to find out what particular triggers are for each patient. I had a nurse say some negative things about me vomiting within earshot. I had vomited and made a mess but it was unintentional. I was in intensive care and I think most of the patients were pretty unaware and the staff just said what came into their heads. And I do believe it was a supervisor's job to make sure things like what happened to me don't happen.

We received an apology from the head of the Social Workers office and an offer of another social worker which we declined as right now we don't feel the need of one. Plus I'm not sure that our making waves might taint anyone in that department. I only hope the woman is talked to and made to see a one-size-fits-all approach really doesn't work and could cause more problems than necessary. Like I said, thank goodness we already knew what the recommendation was and she only presented the worst case scenario. I'm just so happy she was last and not first because I would have been hopeless by the time she left.
She really needs more bedside manner work

I am so glad to see that both of the doctor's were in agreement with the treatment plan for Dave!
I totally understand your feeling regarding the interaction with the social worker. I am so sorry that she upset you! I do hope that someone gives her some advice on how to treat each individual case!
Lots of hugs and continued pixies for both you and Dave!

I am so sorry to hear of your experience with the Social Worker. But, I might add, she has a twin in Champaign-Urbana! Thankfully I only had to see her once. I feel so bad for patients who might go over the deep end with consults like that!

Looking forward to seeing you both soon!

Oh she was a joy!!! I'm glad I don't have to see her again either.

We can't wait to see you and Bob as well! We will have such a good time!
