The Promise of Spring: F&GF 4.0 UPDATED: 5/11 - Page 37 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I can only imagine what the two of you will be up to tomorrow as only 12 days until your newest adventure! That's funny you mention your dryer's beep as my LG has a nice chime to it at completion which is sort of funny! Another great photo as I love that tree so much!

Actually, I misspoke as my Samsung washer and dryer both play a little song when they are done, and sometimes I even sing along.

April 14 How Do We Keep Doing This and April 15 Will It Ever Slow Down
How do we keep doing this? Friday, April 14, started rather slowly, but then it just kept picking up speed. Luke had to mow the yard, so I finished up some tasks around the house. When those were done, I headed outside, too. I grabbed my gardening gloves and began weeding the flower beds in the back where Luke had already mowed. Later Luke helped me with a few of the more resistant weeds. Eventually, the yard work was done and we could have some lunch. Then it was off to Kroger for a week’s worth of groceries. Kroger was packed with folks shopping for Easter dinners we assumed. We had thought by getting there shortly after one it would be too crowded, but not true today. Back at home we unpacked the groceries and took a shortened walk of 2.1 miles. Then since we were going to our church’s Good Friday service, I needed to start getting ready. Our pastor had mentioned last weekend that the service might last 75 minutes. Because of that, we decided to have a light supper at Arby’s before getting to church at 6:00. The service did last about 75 minutes and was awesome. Bill Wolf and his friends/musicians present Easter in stories and songs. Who knew accordions could be so cool, too. Every musician was talented on several instruments and vocally. Very inspirational! They may even be back next year, and we won’t miss them. When we walked earlier, we had talked about shoes. I was wanting one more new pair of athletic shoes for both walking and WDW, and Luke wanted a pair of Vann tennis shoes to wear with jeans. Our Shoe Carnival is having a BOGO half off sale, so after church I suggested we head there. There were a pair of the cutest white Sperry tennis shoes right inside the door, and I immediately tried a pair on. They are so comfy with memory foam insoles. But that was not what I was supposed to be looking for. I did eventually get them as my half off pair when I found a pair of FILA running shoes that are also quite comfy. Luke even found the perfect pair of Vanns. It was almost 9:00 by the time we got home, I changed, worked on laundry, and finally I had time to check e-mails. As the 10:00 local news came on I suddenly remembered that I hadn’t updated the PTR. Oops!
Will it ever slow down? For both Thursday and Friday, I walked 18,000+ steps. I suggested that today (Saturday, 5/15) we take it easier. Evidently, we neither one listened. Though I started by just handwashing a linen top, life picked up after that. Luke and I headed to a nearby park that connects to the Green Belt for our walk, managing 3.46 miles. We even made it home well before lunch. But that may have led to what came next. Luke remembered that yesterday when we were weeding, we talked about opening the vents in the crawl space of our house. But when we finished our extensive weeding, we had forgotten. He headed out to correct that, and then told me he was going to shovel dirt out of our back ditch and put it next to the finish of our neighbor where rain has washed out the yard. I finished a few things inside and then I headed out to help. Of course, the dirt in the ditch was on the opposite side of the yard from where we needed to put it. Lots of walking back and forth. Finally, we had lunch, though I got a call from my grandnephew in the middle of it. He wanted to let me know that his mommy (my niece) had a baby in her belly. This will be there fourth and my nephew gets so excited about his little siblings. Wonderful news! I honestly planned to type up this update when I had cleaned up from lunch. But I sat down, checked e-mails, and then fell asleep with the computer in my lap. I did wake up fifteen minutes later and set the computer aside, but went right back to sleep. I think my body and mind might have been tired. When I woke up an hour later, it was time to clean up for church. We go on Saturday nights. Our church normally has three services, one on Saturday and two on Sunday. This week there are four with an additional one on Sunday. I love our church and Easter is always inspirational. The service ran a little long and then we had to visit with some folks whom we haven’t seen in a while. I even took photos for a family on the way out. Since it was already 7:00, we decided to head over to Luke’s mom’s house first to give her the begonias we potted for her. We had a nice visit, but eventually, we got to talking food, and Luke and I were ready for dinner at our favorite Mexican place. BTW - I going to get 17,000+ steps today.
Honestly, tomorrow has to be a day of rest. I’m sure will walk, but the yard can wait, the house can wait, and we can relax. By the way, I have begun work on the packing list. In fact, everything is listed, except for specific outfits for each day. I’ll pull out shorts and skorts next week and begin to figure out what tops I want for each. So progress has been made. Oh, and Mamaw has agreed to flower-sit for us. We bought two hanging baskets of impatiens that will work well on the shady front porch. But they will still need to be watered while we’re gone. So we’ll be taking them to her house and she’ll care for them until we get back. Helping us out always makes her happy.

Oh, my! You two are busier in retirement than ever before, I believe! You wear me out just reading about your days. No wonder you fell asleep on the couch! I hope you are sticking to your plans and having a relaxing day today.
WOW! What a last couple of busy days you've had and accomplished so much! Now, it's time to get going with all of the WDW trip things!

Wow! I'm with Colleen!! You are going to be zipping around WDW!!
I'm actually thinking we need to slow down and savor Disney, or I might get home and feel like I've not been there if we keep up this pace. But we'll definitely have stamina by the trip.

We probably are busier, at least right now we are. When I woke up from the nap, I felt so much better. We are sticking by our resting plan!

We've stuck to our plan to relax and rest today. We're supposed to get some rain, maybe even storms today, but so far it has been sunny and not as hot. The temps are still in the mid 70s. Very nice! We took a walk early this morning, but we walked at a slow pace for just 2.25 miles. We also picked up more weeping willow limbs from the front yard, but that only took a few minutes. Now I'm baking lasagna and breadsticks for a late lunch. Who knows, I might purposely take a nap after lunch.
