The Promise of Spring: F&GF 4.0 UPDATED: 5/11 - Page 43 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

At least the rain came after you were done with most of the yard work!
So true! And now he won't have to do it for two weeks since we have someone coming while we're on vacation.

I think being raised by a major in the army instilled a work ethic in me. No complaints as it has come in handy.
You're certainly inspiring me to get my house in order this week before we leave too. My DD lives with us so I know it won't stay super clean for our return though. I'm with you on gaining a few pounds over the winter without our daily walks. I really hate the cold and just can't bring myself to walk in the frigid temps. I've been really watching my diet and walking a lot for the last few weeks so hopefully it will make a difference when I have to put my shorts on! Your Care Net dinner sounds lovely.
It's good to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't want to walk in frigid temperatures.

I was up early this morning as my rescheduled manicure was for 8:45 AM, and wanted to be sure I was fully awake before that. Unfortunately, the morning began in gloom with rain. While I was driving home, the weather looked like it might clear up at least long enough for a walk. But nope! Since we weren’t going for a walk, Luke decided to call Sam’s Club to check on the tires that he ordered last Thursday for the Edge. He wants them on before we headed to Nashville next Thursday. Because he ordered them online, he started with that number, but after talking to them for around 15 minutes, the call was suddenly disconnected. So next he called the local Sam’s Club to see what was going on. The response there was the tires were in stock, and Luke was told to bring the car in. We headed out and just as we were about to pull up at the garage at Sam’s Club, Luke’s phone rang. It was the guy he had talked to about coming in. He told Luke that he had been mistaken and did not have the specific tires that had been ordered. He did guarantee that the right tires would be in Monday, and he or someone else would call for us to bring the Edge in.
Since we were already there, we went into the store to pick up a couple of things. I even found a cute skort that will probably be making the trip. I mentioned to Luke that we still needed to stop by Bath & Body for a couple of things, so that came next and we browsed Macy’s as we walked through there into the mall. By the time we got back home, it was time for lunch. When we finished, Luke checked the radar, noting that we had a window of dryness for walking. We easily made our 5K before rain returned. I did not sleep well last night, just never got completely comfortable. So after our walk, I checked e-mails and then took a short nap.
We ate out tonight at our favorite Mexican place. Afterwards, we went to Target to pick up three of my four prescriptions as I didn’t figure correctly when I worked on our medicines yesterday. The four will be ready Monday. They were out of stock today. Our last stop was Meijer for a couple of travel size toiletries we hadn’t found at Target or Wal-mart. Finally, success! Luke asked me as we got back in the car if that was everything that needed to be bought before the trip. I told him I was afraid to say yes or we’d figure out something else.
Sounds like another day of many accomplishments . Sorry about driving all the way over to Sams to find out he was mistaken. But score on the new skorts!
What a pain about the tyres. I know that feeling about saying "yes, everything's done, we've got everything for the trip", as you just know if you say it, you'll have forgotten something.

It sounds like you got a lot done again today even if you weren't able to get your new tires put on the car! Since the rain subsided here by late morning yesterday, we were able to get our walk in during the day. All the walking has helped me with my sleeping at night! This weekend is my time to start packing for the trip.
Well we got your pesky rain here today!! That stinks about the tires but at least you made the trip worthwhile! I also love skorts!! I use them even on my jogs!! Great score! Glad you guys made out at Meijer.
Too bad with the mix and your tires at Sam's Club! I'm sure it will be fine when you bring the Edge in! Hope you enjoyed your dinner at the Mexican eatery the two of you enjoy! What is the name of the restaurant?

That is the most aggravating thing to me, is to tell me something is in only to find out that's not true. It is right around the corner for you two!!!!!!Luke asked a dangerous question, especially when it comes to knowing whether or not you have everything you need for the trip!!!

At least the trip was not a total bust as the skort is a great score.

And I did earlier today realize there is something else we need. We may pick it up tonight after church.

Today was much better than today for walking. It is only 50 degrees and the wind has been strong all day. No walking yet, but maybe??? with your packing.

Another day down!!
I wear my skorts for our walks, too. Just so comfortable and practical.

The restaurant is Real Hacienda, local authentic Mexican.

At least we got some other errands done, so it wasn't a total waste of a trip.
Sounds like you've been very productive and you are almost ready for your trip! I did the Caring For Giants tour last week, and I think you will really enjoy it!
