Refresher: parents’ 60th, I can’t go, going to Skype in.
My brothers asked me to contribute $$$ to the event that I was NOT attending as they were inviting about 20 people to dinner plus cake and flowers. Mind you, one brother has 2 offspring with SOs and the other has 6 with who knows how many. So, basically, their families, my 2 older DDs who are local, and maybe a few distant relatives. I sent what I would have given as a gift and called it good. Still trying to figure out how that was OK.
Fast forward to today, the event (I think, no one kept me informed). I get a text from DD2 this afternoon with a video of my brother giving a speech (not gonna lie, hilarious, he did it all in the Princess Bride “mawwiage” voice). Did anyone call me? Nope. Text to ask me to call? Nope. And yet I’m the witch. I’m glad it’s over. Lessons learned.
ETA: I did call and send a card on the actual day, so at least they know I didn’t forget.
And I just found out only one of my DDs was there, the other had to work. So, it was all my brothers’ families, my aunt, 1 DD, and my parents. Guess I bought dinner for the 4 non-brother-related folks. Lesson. Learned.

Similar things have occurred here not that I find them acceptable. I totally understand the anger as well as disappointment with your family. I'm sorry. And while it is a lesson learned - it is family so it is always going to be that power struggle, etc. Hoping tomorrow is a better day for you.
