Incredibles 2, Pixar short: SPOILER ALERT!!!

If you haven't seen the movie yet, please don't read this. I'd hate to spoil anyone's experience with this awesome movie and interesting short.

Well, that short was very cute and very moving....but did the main character EAT his little whatever-it-was????? I may have nightmares about this! Kidding, but that was very disturbing. Anybody else feel the same way?

The little dumpling was a representation of her real son. It's supposed to be the struggle of the immigrant child wanting to blend in and the parent wanting to preserve culture. Or so I gather from a couple of articles I read. Did your whole theater gasp when the dumpling was swallowed? Ours did and then it got very quiet. It's not my favorite Pixar short.

Ha, I thought the main character was a boy!

There probly was a gasp. I know I was shocked.

We probably did gasp. Can't recall though.

I just about cried. Not because she ate the dumpling, but because I could feel how hard it was for her to let her son go.

I agree that the mom looked less mom-like and more boyish than she should have.

I loved how the new wife was really good at making dumplings.

I can see where they wanted to go, but it just felt like they were trying too hard. I was disappointed in it.

Incredibles 2 I loved. I loved Edna and JackJack together.

I finally saw this last night. I got what they were trying to portray, but thought it was kind of disturbing nonetheless. I loved Incredibles 2 though!

I take it that the mom eating the "little dumpling" was part of a dream. It was weird and I was trying to figure out how this was part of the movie.
