Large group

I want to book dinner reservations for the California Grill for my 50th wedding anniversary. Since my entire family, children and grandchildren, will be with us, the number will be 7 adults, 2 children and a 1 year old. I have been looking at ADRs and December might be a problem. We will be there from December 8 through 16. I can book at the 180 day out. Do you think I will be able to get the reservation? Also, researching I found the early part of December would not be bad in Disney. Was I wrongly informed? I have never been there then.

The first and second week of December aren't too bad; the first week is actually pretty good, I think.

I’ll give you a definite maybe.

The first couple weeks in December are very popular with Disney Vacation Club members. Cali Grill is a popular restaurant due to its offering a fabulous view of the MK fireworks. As a result, you may have to keep trying to get an ADR there.

I suggest getting online immediately at 6:00 a.m. on your 180. Even then, you may not be able to get it right away.

Definitely book right at 180 days and be very happy with your time. This was literally the only reservation we were never able to adjust for our March trip no matter when I tried. Be cautious - December has mixed weather and with free dining thru Dec 7th it might be a little busier than in past years. Early congratulations for you on your anniversary. Have a magical trip.

On another note - you might want to call asap to dining agents and double check bc if I added correctly that would be 10 diners and that might have to be booked via phone. Call and ask as that might play a factor in when and how you book this ADR. It has been years since we had a large group of travelers.

I was wondering the same thing - whether you'd be classed as a large group and would have to call up to book. I seem to recall (and I may be remembering wrong here) that the California Grill has a private dining room, which you may be able to snag, if I am right. It's worth checking out the maximum number you can book online and if you're above that, calling Disney to check out your options. I'm sure, given it's a very special celebration, they'll do what they can to help.
