What’s the deal with hardly any Disney license plate frames?

I decided I want Disney frames for the plates on my new car—whenever I get it, that is.

Makes sense, right? Shop for plate frames before you’ve even got a car? Knew you guys would say that makes perfect sense.

So, I’ve looked at Shop Disney, Shop Disney Parks and Amazon. Almost no one but Mickey, not that I don’t love my birthday twin but was hoping for a good HM frame. No such luck.

Found a really cute Tink one, but reviewers said it broke easily or faded quickly.

Maybe we need to petition Disney for some quality license plate frames.

Whatta ya think?

I definitely think you need the frame before the car. After all, you have to find the right car to fit the frame, don't you? It's a shame there isn't more variety out there.

I know here in Massachusetts, you can no longer have license plate frames on cars. The reasoning behind it is cops cannot see the whole plate to get info they might need and if you do have a frame and attempt to get an inspection sticker, your car will fail. It could be other states have this practice too and Disney knows it and isn't selling them much anymore.

Well, I must have the last license frame.... and yes it is faded, but it ain't coming off. Knock on wood I have not had any issues with it.

But I Definitely agree you should find a frame BEFORE the car!

Dot, what about making one? Or maybe buy a plain one and put stickers on it? just a suggestion....

I will sign a petition....

Same here in PA. My friend just got a ticket for having a Pittsburgh Zoo Frame (he is an employee and has had said frame since he had the car - 10+ years). $142 ticket just this past week. I am guessing they are cracking down on it.

Huh. Just checked MO law which says frames must not cover ANY part of the plates. Yet, you see ones that do everywhere, especially Cardinals and U of MO frames.

Guess I’m not shopping for plate frames anymore.

Now you have me wondering...I will have to ask a couple of my road troopers and see what they say!

We bought DS "Stitch" license plate frames at a store called Hot Topic. They have lots of Disney stuff that I never see anywhere else.

I agree. I have a frame I bought way back in the early 2000s and haven't seen one I like since. I don't have it on my car anymore though, as NC decided that frames that covered any part of the plate that you could read was illegal. (Though I've seen plenty of plates on cars since they passed that law).\\

I also don't want permanent decals on my car so only magnets. Those are few and far between too.

I can offer a guess as to why you can’t find car magnets.

Not long after we moved to St. Louis, I was looking at a display of Cardinals stuff at Walmart.

I liked one car magnet until I read the fine print which warned that the magnet must be moved to another location every 2-3 days or it might remove the paint.

That may be why there don’t seem to be any Disney car magnets for sale.

Have you tried Etsy? I know you can get customized Disney license plates on Etsy. They're obviously not legal license plates that you could put on your car. I'm going to get a set that say revral and use zip ties to attach them to my rented scooter. I'll then cut the ties and pack the license plates in my Owner's Locker.

Interesting. I have had several magnets on my cars from various places and have never had a paint problem. One of them was a WDW AP magnet. (Loved it but took it off since I haven't had an AP in a long time).
