As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad to help! It's a good thing you're not coming until May, as it's really nasty out today-- snow and rock-hard freezing rain!
No kidding! May should be lovely, I hope! *fingers crossed* I've got a lot of outdoor stuff planned! Heck who am I kidding, everything I want to do there is outdoors, just about!
We'll get up around 8am, grab a quick breakfast somewhere nearby (likely fast food), and head over to the harbor for a whale watching excursion! Initially we were to go to the aquarium this morning, but a whale watching cruise is something that I can't do most other places (certainly nowhere that I'm going to be anytime soon). So, I put the kibosh on the aquarium, though if the weather is bad that day, the aquarium is still plan B, for sure. I plan on getting us a bite to eat on the boat, so that should tide us over until we get to Quincy Market later in the day.
The cruise should be done by 1pm, and then we'll take the T over to the Old North Church, because Meri wants to see the Paul Revere statue (she's definitely got opinions, this one) and I want to see the church. Depending on the distance, we may also walk over to St. Stephens Church and the Paul Revere House. It doesn't LOOK like it's particularly far, but... maps are deceiving.
Then we'll take the T back over to Quincy Market / Faneuil Hall. I'm hoping to get to Quincy Market by 3pm, but it doesn't matter if that's not the case. We'll likely get a small bite to eat somewhere around here. Maybe an appetizer somewhere. And chicken nuggets for Meri, of course. *eye roll* I swear that's all she eats.
With that done, we'll take the T back across town to the Old Corner Bookstore and the Benjamin Franklin statue. I know I mentioned those two as possibly part of yesterdays plans... but if we don't get to them on Sunday, we'll tack them on today.
If all goes "as planned" (hahaha) we should be back in the room by 530-6pm... and then we'll either have dinner with Matthew again or we'll just wing it on our own!
Then I have to pack up our stuff, because we check out the next morning to head on to our next adventure!

Hey all, it's been very hectic around here, running around from place to place. There's always somewhere to be, something to do...
Days 3-6
Day 3 is another travel day, but a very exciting one for us, as it's Meri's first train ride (not counting the Magic Kingdom Rail Road, lol). We'll get up around 730am, I guess, and grab some breakfast, then head to the train station. We'll take the train from Boston down to Penn Station, and then we'll take the Long Island Rail Road all the way out to almost the very end!
It will be a long day - a little over four hours on the Amtrak, then about 90 minutes on the LIRR. I'm hoping to get business class seats, so we can have an outlet at our seat for using the DVD player, iPod and laptop... but we'll see what happens with that. I'll book that in the next few weeks, I'm sure. Either way it will be fine, though. I'm going to check my suitcase, so I don't have to worry about it when we want to visit the snack car or whatever. That's the hard thing about having only one adult... you have to bring everything with you when you go somewhere. So I think we'll visit the potty and do the snack car before we break all the stuff out.
I lumped days 3-6 (Tues through Fri) together because we have no special plans for these days (aside from the travel day). I'll be working 9-5pm every day from my cousin's house, and we'll be riding horses and hanging out at the beach, most likely. I'd love to do a drive through the Hamptons one afternoon, and maybe a trip to the outlets. If we do the Hamptons, I'll post pictures of some of the amazing houses out there.
This part of the TR may be kind of dull. But there will be pictures of horses (and maybe cows, Cheryl!) and the beach, and maybe a boat or some ritzy houses, lol.
Now, off to bed with me, because tomorrow we're expecting nasty storms, and Meri will wake me at the first thunderclap... (sigh).

I have a friend with a house in the Hamptons (lucky!) so I'm familiar with the train trek from Boston--it is a long one! Worth it when you get there, though, and it sounds like you have a pretty relaxing time planned on LI. More horses for Meri!
