As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Date: Saturday 23 October Adventurers: Me, Cheryl (37) and DH Mark (45) Destination: The O2 in London Celebration: seeing Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic
I wanted to share with you the photos we got from Disney On Ice, which we went to see last weekend at London’s O2. It’s a show that I think has been around for a while now, from what I can gather, but it’s the first time we’ve seen it. I know it’s certainly been to the UK once before, but we didn’t get to see it then. We really lucked out with the tickets to this, as when they went on sale a number of months ago, I was able to secure front row seats!
This won’t be a traditional trip report as such – instead it will be a photo report, with the pictures telling the story for you. Enjoy!
When we arrived there was just a castle backdrop....
First on to the ice were everyone’s favourite mice, Mickey and Minnie, and Goofy...
.... followed rapidly by Donald, who had rather worryingly been let loose on machinery, with poor old Chip and Dale in tow!
Having found a mysterious lamp, Aladdin and Abu (very cleverly done! ) appeared, joined shortly by the Genie, who seemed to multiply, until his doubles took over the whole rink!
We next headed under the sea to enjoy a very short re-telling of Finding Nemo, featuring some of your favourites from that movie, including Nemo, Dory, Marlin, and of course Bruce, who was just fantastic!
Mickey and Minnie appeared in their finery to introduce the next act...
... which was a wonderful re-telling of Beauty and the Beast, including all of Be Our Guest, which was perhaps one of my favourite parts of the show.
This neatly led into a medley, where various princesses appeared with their princes. It was an interesting choice of who appeared, with Pocahontas, but no Princess Aurora, which I found a little odd.
Next was a very popular appearance of the characters from Toy Story, and some help from Goofy. The box they bought on to the rink contained our friend Buzz Lightyear!
Mickey, Minnie and Donald introduced us to the next segment of the show....
... which was It’s A Small World, complete with the castle changing into the facade from the attraction and individual floats on the ice, representing various elements of the different scenes. I loved it, but of course Mark wasn’t as keen to hear that song that he loves so much...
This was the finish to the first half, with Mickey arriving on scene in a balloon – a very fitting ending to act one!
Here, I’ll take a break from the trip report and give you guys an intermission, as this has got kind of long with all the photos, but I’ll be back soon with part two...
Wow, this looks like an awesome show! I wonder if it will be coming to our parts anytime soon...
Edit* They don't have this show coming near us But they do have a Princess one, which is a no go And a Toy Story 3 on ice. That one might just be doable I really love the idea of this one though, Cheryl. I like how they mixed in a bunch of movies/themes over just one story.

Thank you so much for the memories Cheryl. We went to see this last year and we really enjoyed the show. I for one did not think you posted too many pictures at all - and I can't wait for part 2. As Griffin mentioned, the one coming soon to us is Princess Wishes, which we saw a couple of years ago. And having read what you wrote, I'm thinking that Disney on Ice isn't as popular as some people might think. I've been able to get very good seats on extremely short notice as well. I know the Princess Wishes one we saw, we went to on a Saturday and Abby enjoyed it so much that when we got home, we convinced my mother to go to a show with us and once she agreed, we were able to buy really good seats for the very next day.
Oh thank you for Lumiere! He looks handsome as ever!
I have to say I found the placement of Dory's eyes a little, um, disturbing Please tell me that is a camera angle issue.
Ok so I see big Bruce and so what in the world did Genie come out in?
Thanks for sharing, looking forward to Act II

I didn't mention about the placing of Dory's eyes, but : you are 100% right with where they are. We noticed it quite early on when she came on....
The second part of the show started with Mickey’s band, and the main characters were all dressed in yellow and bed to coordinate with the band, as you can see:
The Blue Fairy then descended to the stage...
... which led into a Pinocchio portion of the show, including Gepetto, the whale and the villains. Once again, it was all very well done:
Then Mickey re-appeared to be joined by Stitch, who did a guitar solo and then had to beat the gong to signal the start of the next segment...
... which was Mulan. This was, to me, a surprising choice, as it’s not one of the more famous or – dare I say it – more loved films, but I really enjoyed it and certainly learnt about the story of the film, which I’ve never seen...
Next, the Incredibles arrived and, with the help of some very clever effects, showed off their superpowers in turn:
Then it was the start of the finale to the show, with the Lion King – and I was absolutely enchanted by Pumbaa especially, as I’m sure that his front legs had to be the skater’s hands? I say that, as it can’t have been two people in there, as at times, Pumbaa was just on his rear legs....
To end the show, all the skaters made an appearance back on the rink and children were invited up to shake their hands, which was a really neat way to end it:
All in all, we loved the show and I’d thoroughly recommend it to anyone. One of the highlights was the way it had so many much loved films featured in it and the whole thing hung together perfectly. If anything, I only have one complaint – where’s my skating donkey boy? Eeyore, we need you in a future Disney on Ice!
Hope you enjoyed it - and if you do get the chance to see a Disney on Ice show, then do - as you can see, they're amazing!
Thank you so much for all the pictures Cheryl. As usual, you do such a wonderful job with them. Although out of all the segments of this particular show, IMO they could get rid of The Incredibles portion - I found that to be boring. I have yet to even see the entire movie - I always fall asleep during it.
