Your starting so much more quickly than I am. The job I’ve gotten has required sooooo many steps to complete before starting work, but I expect to probably hear from them sometime this week about a start date. Even after we arrive at a date, I still have to be fingerprinted, because I will be employed by the local city police. I made my initial application in late August. I will start the job in November.

At least you got going in a timely manner. And, I hear you about being told by potential employers that they’ll let you know one way or the other. Yeah, right! I have learned that nobody does that, absolutely nobody.

Thank you, Susan!

I thought for sure YOU would start before me....It was one of the quickest hires. I had the interview on Oct 12th, had to do a drug test on Oct 16th, and the Service Manager called Oct 18th to tell me that I got the job. Oct 19th I had to drive to HR in another town, 30 minutes away.

I hope they raise my pay..... I really had a Great 1st day. As I was leaving, one employee said to me "We are betting on you"....I said I will be back! So you will lose! LOL

I am sorry you were told the same as me, about telling whether you got a job or not! I don't care- just tell me that I didn't get the job. Stupid!

Hope you get a date REALLY sooner than November!

Thank you! I know and they send all future employees for a drug test. That costs money. I hope they increase my pay. Here is another thing that I can't believe- the company gives out REAL paychecks- no direct deposit...Who does that!!!!!...OMG! lol

I just got a PT position with a local village. I interviewed on one day (for 10-12 minutes!!) and found out I got the job the next day - less than 24 hours after the interview. Of course, there are meetings to be had to approve the hire, some training with the former employee who is getting ready to go on vacation and the wait to start is here! It may be as late as late November or early December until I start.

I do believe that anyone who interviewed should be called to at least notify them the position is filled. Hate to have the waiting for something that never ends!!

LOL! Thank you! I wonder what you do? [/QUOTE]

When people ask me what I do there, I usually give them the answer, "I do everything but fix the cars and sell the cars" lol
I work in the office and I do all the paperwork and titling and state work and just about everything in between! My Boss is one of those people that believe in cross-training. I think some people in times past believed that if someone else could do your job- there was no job security. But we believe otherwise. People get sick, take vacations, etc. Plus, when we get busy at end of month or whenever, it's nice to have people who can help you. I would push to be cross-trained - it's important

I just finished my 3rd week.....and it is a really a good job with little stress. I am answering the phone and scheduling customers for recalls, oil changes, maintenance, inspections....and I work with my supervisor plus 2 others and then there are 2 other people in the cashier part. Everyone is so nice! Its is so nice to work for a company and be treated right. I forgot what that was like. One of the people I work with in the scheduling, makes me laugh so much. And he can do a Great impression of Donald Duck!

So my manager came into the office (where we sit) on Wednesday afternoon, and he had been at a meeting in the morning. He tells us that I was "shopped"- meaning there was a secret shopper that called in, to test us. I was the lucky one to take his call and the top score was 89.6 and my score was a 89.6! The only complaint the guy had was he didn't like me saying that the price for a 30,000 maintenance service was "starting $89.99- but that is what we are supposed to say. My manager said that too. We can't tell customers that it is a that price because it could go up.

I don't have to take the full hour break, which means I get overtime! WooHoo! 2.5 hours a week, not too bad. I am literally 2 miles away from home one-way. I have seem to fit right in with the group.

Things are going well..... and I am working about 4 or 5 hours on both Saturdays & Sundays at the candy store. It is only until up to Christmas.

Just wanted to give you all an update.....

Glad things are going so well for you Kate. It's always a "bonus" when you get treated right at your job. Nowadays I don't think that's the norm which is really sad.
