DCL Transfers

I have a question that I thought someone on the boards might be able to answer (I don't really have the time to research it right now and see if I can find the answer). We have only been on one Disney Cruise and we didn't need to use the ground transportation, so I'm not very informed about how it works exactly.

DH and I want to go on a cruise in February (for my birthday) and he has always wanted to ride to/from the DCL terminal on the DCL bus. So, I guess my question is, can we add on DCL transfers to and from WDW if we book our own resort (for the night before the cruise)? I guess after the cruise we would return to the same resort, get our vehicle from the parking lot and go home?

I hope this question makes sense... Thanks!

Re: DCL Transfers

You can add the transfers, however, you will need to go to one of the transfer resorts.

The problem is the return. They only take you to the airport.

Re: DCL Transfers

You can book transfers to hotels as well, but they take you in a van and not in the busses.

Re: DCL Transfers

So, we can book the transfers ourselves, but when we disembark the cruise we will return to the resort via van transportation instead of the DCL buses? I will have to research this and see what I need to do. Thanks.

Re: DCL Transfers

You can take DCL transportation back to the resorts. We have it booked a couple of weeks from now (it cost $30 per person, for this leg, and I think the cost just went up). I was told most likely a bus, that the vans aren't in use much anymore. Similar to DME, they'll group us with other cruisers in the same resort area.

Re: DCL Transfers

They actully use all of the Cruise line busses to go to the airport. Also don't forget they pick people up from the airport and the resorts too. So that dosn't really leve enough buses for them to use for resort to port transport.

Re: DCL Transfers

If your staying in a hotel that Disney uses for Cruiser's then they have busses that will pick you up and bring you to the port you would just check in with them the day of the cruise and turn in your luggage to the Cruise staff at the resort.

On the return trip, regardless of what kind of vehicle it is van or bus, they do provide transportation to the resort. I'm sure Disney is more then willing to transport passangers back to WDW since that might mean those guests spending more money at Disney.

So don't fret you will be able to get back to your car.

Re: DCL Transfers

You can book transfers from Resort to Port and then back to resort.

As others have said, from Resort to Port service is only available from DVC resorts and those that DCL puts folks in for land and sea packages.

On the return you can go to any resort, but you may be put in a van instead of on a motorcoach depending on how many people are going to that particular resort. And your van may stop at more than one Disney resort.

The prices are increasing on November 1, so you will save yourself $10 if you add the transfers to your reservation before then.
