Hi Everyone. In 48 hours we will be at Disney! Hooray! Woo hoo!
As I finish packing, I wondered if it is ok to bring lanyards and pins on the airplane in our carry on bags. I have done this in the past, and was going to on this trip, as we would hate to lose them. However, with all the new restrictions I was not sure.
Any thoughts? If I am not sure I will pack them in a carry on just to be safe.
We put DS' pins in our carry-on's August 14th (4 days after the terror plot) without a problem. The only time we have ever been stopped with them is when we had received a shipment of pins as a surprise for DS...they were wrapped in paper & packed in a shipping box. The attendants had us open the box & unwrap the paper. Once they saw what they were, we were free to go.
We traveled from Disney in the beginning of November - had the pins on the lanyard with us (maybe even on one of my DDs) and it was no problem. In fact, there is the Disney store at the airport where we bought "just one more pin!" before we flew home. We had absolutely no problems - no one even mentioned them!
"With certain exceptions for prescription and over-the-counter medicines, baby formula and breast milk, and other essential liquids, gels, and aerosols, the following rules apply to all liquids, gels, and aerosols you want to carry through a security checkpoint.
All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller.
All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag.
Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items. "
Hi There! We brought the pins on without a problem. FYI, my sister was apparently the only person on earth who didn't know about putting items in a baggie, so they threw some of it away. And my mom had a ziploc bag that was NOT quart size. I think it was a bit smaller, sandwich size, anyway they gave her a little bit of a hard time.
I was prepared, because I am an obsessive passporter!! LOL
Weather is cool in morning and evening, 60s, and high 70s during the day. It has been rainy and drizzly too. Not exactly what I hoped for, but hey, we're at Disney!!
