As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The "You went all the went to the Mall of America and didn't shop?????" Trip Report
OK. I did do a little shopping at Archivers while scrapbooking, but that was the only store I entered. (Unless you count the Cinnabon I bought for breakfast on Sat.)
But, I am before myself. Let me start at the beginning...
The JOURNEY ...
At around 10 am on Friday, Lesley picked me up at my house for our drive to Minnesota from Chicago. We were planning on a 5 pm arrival - about a 7 hour drive. After loading all of my stuff into her van, we were off! Please don't think ill of me if I had more scrapbooking bags than suitcases!!! Really I only had one rolling milk crate full of "stuff" and a small shoulder bag of scrapping tools. Lesley had thoughtfully packed a cooler and even put in some regular coke for me! We decided to put the 12 pack of Chicago brewed beer (Goose Island Harvest Ale) that I was bringing with me as a hostess gift into the cooler in an attempt to get it cool for the Friday night meet.
We stopped about midway to Minnesota somewhere in Wisconsin for lunch. We stopped at an A&W Root Beer place. I had never been to one, so I was interested. My meal was very good. My chicken sandwich was juicy and tasty. Quite surprising for a fast food type place. They had rootbeer on tap!! But I didn't drink any as I like coke with my meal. I wish I had at least tasted it, however, because I do like root beer. There is an A&W rootbeer place located near me, so I might try it out sometime!! While at the A&W rootbeer place, we ran into about 25 or so hunters. At least we think they were hunters. As we were getting out of our car, the guys in the car next to us were taking off their bullet proof vests!!! Many of them had on "So and so shooting club" T-shirts, so that is why we thought they were hunters.
We arrived at the Courtyard Marriott hotel by the Mall of America around 5:30 pm. This is the hotel that Lesley and Sue were staying at for the weekend. Lesley freshened up and we picked up Sue and then headed to Michelle's house for the Friday night get together.
Up next ... MVMCP or better known as Michelle's Very Merry Chatting Party
We made it to Michelle's house in about 30 minutes. We knew we were at the right house when we saw the purple and red flowers. For those of you who do not know, Michelle has a purple and red fetish, as you will see in the pictures.
When we got there, some people were already there. So we just joined in! We sat around and talked and looked at each other's scrapbooks . Michelle had carmel corn in a Sleepy Hollow bucket and popcorn in a Disney popcorn bucket. She even had a hidden mickey on the table with the placemats!
Michelle outdid herself and even had games! We had to roll the dice (Disney dice, of course) and if we got a pair, we won a prize! Michelle had cut out titles on her wishblade for us to use on our scrapbook pages!
We also ordered dinner for delivery. I had a delicious and huge calzone. Michelle had a calzone too. A few people got pizza. And some got a salad and/or pasta. Here is a picture of us figuring out how much we owed the delivery guy:
The party broke up around 11:30 or so!!! Michelle's poor husband, kids and dog were banished to the firehouse until then. But they arrived home shortly after everyone left. Michelle left us with treat bags too filled with more Wishblade titles that corresponded with what we were planning on scrapbooking the next day.
Up next ... Am I at the All Stars Resort??

I spent the night at Michelle's house, so we could discuss our Mousefest plans. (We are going to Mousefest together.) As with the Friday night party, Michelle outdid herself with my stay. As you see in the other thread, Michelle put down new carpet in the guest bedroom before I came. And when I went downstairs to go to bed, I found a towel animal on the bed! I felt just like I was at Disney!!
And then, when I went in the guest bathroom, I found Mickey soap and shampoo in the shower.
And on the sink ...
Although I had to leave 10cents to use the toilet. Just kidding. But they did have a decoration/sign that said something to the effect of paying 10cents per flush. I wish I had taken a picture. I did leave 2 dimes and apparently Michelle's DH thinks I am a crazy women. I felt bad for not leaving a Mousekeeping envelope. If I had had any way to make one up, I would have. They will have to be happy with the 20cents.
Despite Michelle having a wonderful scrapbooking area in the spare room, I quickly went to bed and fell asleep since it was so late and we had a long day of driving. Not to mention that the bed was very comfy.
Maggie - I did look twice when we stopped at A&W and the guys in the car next to us were taking off their bullet proof vests. I think you were tired from talking as well as the driving. As I recall there wasn't alot of silence in the car. Although come to think of it - I think most of the sound was coming out of my mouth.
