Name brand vs. generic/store brand

Are there any items you will only eat if they're name brand?

For me there's a few I can think of off the top of my head:

Box macaroni and cheese - has to be Kraft
Toaster pastries - has to be PopTarts. The store brands are just gross, IMO
Cinnamon rolls - have to be Pillsbury
Raisin Bran - only Kellogg's for me

On the other hand, we totally prefer the WalMart brand peanut butter and orange juice.

I'm a brand snob, I'll admit it.
But off the top of my head --
has to be Heinz ketchup.
And Kraft Mac & cheese. (Or Stouffers for the good stuff)
Only true PopTarts.
DD won't eat store brand cheese & mini-crackers even it I put them in a Ritz bit box.

way too many to name here! basically all the big ones. My biggest non-generics, even though they're not food, are Bounty towels and Charmin toilet paper.

I'm not a brand snob, but there are a few things I have to buy name brand:

Bounty, Charmin and Cascade - mom doesn't think anything else works
Skippy PB - I will eat other kinds but don't enjoy them as much
Tropical Punch Kool Aid - other flavors I'll have store brand, but not this flavor

Other than that, I'll try the store brand and most times I keep buying it.

Off the top of my head:
mayonnaise= has to be Hellmanns (called Best Foods in some parts of the country)
ranch dressing= Hidden Valley Ranch
Dh will only eat Jif peanut butter.
Other than that, I'm usually pretty satisfied with store brands.

Tina, I sat here for a while trying to figure out what brand names I must have. I finally went to the pantry and took a peek. I insist on:

San Marzano crushed tomatoes for my pasta sauce
Ghirardelli chocolate for my hot chocolate

I think that's about it. But then I realized I'm more of a "store" snob, than a brand snob. I won't buy the inferior produce from my local Market Basket. I only buy fruits and veggies from our Whole Foods Market, or Trader Joe's. They have better quality everything.

I have to have REAL Pop-Tarts, Tropicana (pulp-free) OJ, Snuggles, Bounce dryer sheets, Clorox 2, Sun Detergent. I have to have my Always lmao.... No store brand there lmao....

Most of my other stuff can be store brand and won't bother me.

My absolutes are:

Non-generic peanut butter - preferably Jif, but Skippy works too.
Klaussen Dill Pickles
Heinz Ketchup - this one is a deal breaker - if I don't have my "real" ketchup, I won't eat something if it's got Hunts or some other brand on it.
Toaster Strudels
Hellman's Mayo
Kraft or Velveeta American Cheese Slices - I SWEAR I can taste the difference between these and generic American Cheese.
Ditto for box Mac 'n Cheese - Kraft or Velveeta are good, but for some reason, generic Mac 'n Cheese powder doesn't blend as well as the good stuff.
Oreos - no "Hydrox" cookies here!

Almost nothing is generic here.
For sure, we HAVE to have brand name cereals.

In the non food category there's Cottonelle (toilet paper) and Electrasol 2 in 1 gel pacs (dishwasher detergent). In the food category there's Tillamook cheddar cheese,Yoplait yogurt, Bush's baked beans, Ocean Spray cranberry sauce, Swanson's Natural Goodness broths, Orville Redenbacher popcorn and Heinz ketchup. I prefer Newman's Own pasta sauces and salad dressings, and Tillamook cheese if they make the kind I want.

Heinz kethcup
Hellmans Mayo ( and not low fat either)
Friendship Cottage cheese
peanut butter- it can be Jif or Peter Pan or Wegmans organic but no other store brand-
Then there are some soaps and things that have to be brand name- my younger son has to use some face wash that costs a lot or his skin breaks out

I agree on the Kraft Macaroni and cheese

I buy generic butter, pudding cups (actually taste the same or better), OJ, milk, yogurt, bread, rolls, cheese.
