What happens if you are late picking up a rental car?
I booked a car through Alamo at MCO for us to pick up at 10 am. Our flight arrives at 9:12 am, and from what I've heard about Jet Blue, we will probably arrive even earlier than that. So I'm wondering if I should change my time to 9:30 for the car? I have a habit of booking our rental cars with late times and we end up just wandering around the airport until we can get the car and my fiance gets sooo mad at me!
So I'm wondering, if I do change it to 9:30 and there is some reason we are late picking up the car, are they going to penalize us and make us pay some ridiculous fee? Or is it ok if we are a few minutes late? I just want to avoid wandering around the airport until 10, I just want to get our car and get to Disney World!

The rental car companies are not at all strict about pick up times. The "penalty" for being late or early is, perhaps, a greater likelihood they won't have a car waiting for you. Early pick up could also mean having the car long enough to bump you into another day's rental, but that will depend on your drop-off time. Rental companies expect flights to arrive early or late, and are accordingly quite flexible.

Oh thank you, that's good to know! I remember when we went in 2008 I made our reservation 2 hours after our flight arrived ( I didn't know any better!) and we asked if it would cost more if we got our car early and they said yes, so we just stood there and waited!
I changed my time to 9:30 so hopefully we will arrive a little early so we have time to get our bags and stuff!
Does anyone know anything about using the Alamo check in kiosk or online check in? I booked through Costco so I could get the additional driver fee waived, and I'm wondering if you can do the online check in if you have to add the additional drivers info...is that allowed?
And if you do online check in, do you just skip the counter all together and go right out to the garage and pick up your car?

I make my res thru Costco too, but always go to the desk, I think you may have to esp if you are puttin on an extra driver, because they'll need to see the DL. Not sure about it though. Try phoning the Costco # on the Alamo/Costco tab.
Last year I used the kiosk at Alamo, then went out to the lot to p/u the car. Very easy! And yes, I did book it thru Costco.

I am pleased to hear that you moved your reservation up. We will hold reservation for up to 12 hours or the end of the business day, but if you arrive early you will frequently have to wait for your vehicle.
Regarding you question about the Kiosk, it depends on the specifics of your reservation. For example, if you are also renting a GPS device, you will have to go to the counter. I would recommend calling our reservations department and they can review your reservation and answer any questions you may have: 1-800-462-5266.
