Disney Dream - Cool Stateroom Stuff

A few cool things I've already observed about the staterooms on the new Disney Dream...

- There's a nightlight in the sitting area. The switch for it is on the desk. The nightlight itself is in the ceiling, but very dim -- definitely feels like a nightlight. Nice touch!

- There's storage in the table/ottomon -- lift the lid to access it.

- There's an iPod player by the bed (though sadly, it doesn't work with my iPhone)

- It would seem that any card works for the card control just inside the room -- I tried an old hotel room card in it (non-Disney) and it worked to keep the lights/electricity on in the room.

- There's a round magnifying mirror as part of the regular mirror in the bathtub room.

- There are two hidden outlets -- one on the ceiling above the mirror in the bathroom (the bath side of the a split bathroom) and one below the iPod Player shelf next to the bed.

- You can use any card in the card slot near the door that controls whether electricity is on in the room or not (i.e., a library card, even the corner of a "Service Please" tag).

More as I discover it!

Jennifer - Please check out the general channel on the TV (the one with your room number at the top and name at the bottom.) Does it come on automatically when you turn on the TV? Can you access your onboard account from the "Guest Services" tab? What else can you do??

Thanks!

Thanks for all the information. I love the idea of storage in the ottoman. That will be great for the stuff that DD collects on board and some of her clothes.

The "card control" is a master power switch for the stateroom - there's a slot mounted on the wall right next to the door as you enter. Slip the key in when you enter the room, or you can't turn on the lights. The idea is to prevent folks from leaving the lights on when they've left the room - if you must put your key into the slot when you enter the room, you'll have to take it with you when you leave the room. As you can see, a determined person will have little trouble leaving the lights on at all times, a good thing if you're charging batteries.

Here's a closer photo of the card control thing-a-ma-bobber (like my technical term?)

We found our stateroom host used the storage spot in the ottoman for the bed pillows and bedspread.

On the DCL bus now heading back to the Dream.
