Discounts [when does Disney typically release them?]

Hello, we are planning our next vacation April 2012. When does disney normally come out with their discounts. Would anyone know what their normal discounts are for in April?

If you're looking for "room only" discounts, they tend to come out at the end of the year for timeframes in April. Keep in mind, however, that April is peak season and there are years when discounts then can be few and far between since Disney doesn't generally need to coax people to book then.

Then there are the promotions like "Kids stay and play free" or "Play for 7/Pay for 4" or "Free Dining" and those are much harder to predict...

Keep an eye on sites like Mousesavers.com for info on any and all discounts:

MouseSavers.com - Disney World Resort Hotel Discount Codes & Deals

Definitely sign up for their free newsletter. It only comes out one a month (on the 15th) and they don't spam you with junk. You also get access to discounts on tickets from Disney-authorized ticket brokers like UndercoverTourist.com!

Mousesavers also has a chart of historical data on when discounts have been released over the years -- it's definitely worth a looksee!

MouseSavers.com - Historical Information on Walt Disney World Resort Discounts

Good luck!

If you're a AAA member and are booking a room only reservation, than the AAA discount is available now for 2012 bookings. The time of year you are booking as well as which hotel and room category you're booking will determine the size of your discount. I booked POFQ's new garden view room category for August 2012 last week and managed to snag a 20% room only discount. AAA discounts generally run in the range of 10-20% percent off.

I too am hoping for April 2012 discounts. I'm hopeful that there will be some for the second half of the month since Easter is early next year and rates go back to regular season on the 15th. A couple of years ago we got the 7 for 4 deal for April and I *think* that came out in August but I could be wrong.

I was playing around on the WDW site the other day and the instant messaging feature popped up so I asked the CM if they knew when April discounts might be released but he didn't have any info.

Fingers crossed!

Well, you'll be 2-3 weeks past Easter week, so you'll be less likely to run into huge crowds, and the discounts will probably be more plentiful.

We just did this too, at POR, for 2012 booking. Then when WDW puts out discounts, we'll switch if it's a better discount- it usually is.

We'll switch it to a Disney discount only if the Disney discount is better, ie. we save more money.
