Question Hilton at DTD

Several friends have recommended that I try the DTD Hilton in the future. They say it is a great value compared to the Disney resorts. I know that it gets EMH which is a plus. What kind of bus service does it have to the parks? Anything I should know about the place?

I haven't stayed there, we are booked our first night at DTD Doubletree. What I know, is that the DTD hotels don't have WDW transportation to the parks, they have a scheduled bus that runs every 30 min. They have to use the off site bus stops at the parks, which isn't as close as the WDW bus stops, aren't covered. You just wait at a numbered stop in a big parking lot.

The Hilton is very close to DTD, you can walk. Look on Mousesavers.com for possible discounts. We got a great rate from using the mousesavers link for Doubletree- incl. free breakfast.

We stayed there in Dec '09. Really liked it. The bus system was pretty good. I think the most we waited was 30 min. The bus back a little less convenient as you MUST be at the stop at a particular time--again 30 min between buses. So we took the WDW bus to DTD and walked back, which was about a block walk. Access to DTD venues and restaurants good. Rooms were very nice and we thought bigger than what we'd had at WL. We got an unbelievable rate $59/night. Good luck!

If you are thinking about checking non-Disney resorts it would be nice to check upon both Swan and Dolphin too. They share disney transportation with BC and YC.
A couple of times we booked a room there - we`d it canceled both because we received a pin code that matched the price in a disney resort.

If you subscribe to the Mousesavers.com e-newsletter, you will get discount offers every month, often including the Hilton in DTD. Many people seem quite happy with this hotel, as you do get EMH and can often beat the price of a value resort room.

We are staying at the Swan for two nights as a special thing for our son, who begged to stay at the place with the big swans. Although we started out with a really low rate ($149/night for a nurse/teacher), by the time they added the third adult fee (which Disney also charges), resort fee and tax, we are paying $218/night. Not horrible and lower than most Disney deluxe resorts, but we will still have to pay parking. My husband plans to spend the entire two days in the room, calling room service for meals. That's HIS idea of a great Disney vacation!
