We are trying to figure out our transportation from LAX to the Grand Californian and back. We are four adults, two, two year olds and a six month old. Since we are not renting a car this trip we would like to leave our car seats at home. We are trying to figure out if a car service would be better than the DLE. From what I can figure out the DLE would cost us $128.00 and car seats??? The car service from American Eagle (recommended by GC guest services) would be $120.00 one way and include car seats. What I am confused about is how the shuttle service handles children and car seats AND if the price I was quoted was round trip. ANy help???
DLE is one of those large, touring type busses much like the DME busses at WDW. I don't even know that they permit carseats on them, much less require them. Now, on their website I saw that they had a "Family Pass" roundtrip for $99, but it says that is for up to a family of 5. Southern California Gray Line - Shuttle Service
However, either on that page or somewhere else on the website, it shows there isn't a charge for children under 3, so maybe you would still qualify?
Having flown out to DLR 3 times and checking prices, I imagine the price quoted you for the car service was one way. Although we had always flown into Long Beach, we always went with a van type shuttle; yes, that meant hauling carseats in/out of airports, but the savings was too much to pass up. It was only 1 occasion where it was actually a shared ride. But, with the number of people in your party, you probably will have a van all to yourself. We used Prime Time and they were always waiting for us when we landed at Long Beach and were very punctual picking us up for our return trip to the airport.
Oh, and after staying at Grand Californian, you won't want to stay anywhere else. It is divine.
Celebrating Christmas at Disneyland and our first visit to Carsland!
