It's funny you should ask about these two restaurants specifically, because they are DH and my favorite and least favorite restaurants. We LOVE (love love love) Biergarten. It is the only place that DH requests on every trip, and I am more than happy to oblige. We have had nothing but wonderful, attentive service every time and the food is so delicious. I could eat their meatballs in wine sauce and nothing else and still go away happy. We also always have a really fun time meeting others that we are seated with and hearing about where they are from. The show is lots of fun too.
Now for PTC....we have only been there once, but we are in absolutely no hurry to go back. Our service was terrible. Now granted, it was crowded the time we were there, but we saw our server all of twice. Once to take our order and once to bring our bill (someone else brought our food). No drink refills, no offers of dessert, nothing. We were hoping to experience some of the antics we had heard about, but we didn't get any of that. On top of the poor service, the food was really unfortunate. I was so confused because I hear people rave about the food here, but ours was less than mediocre. I got the meatloaf (and I LOVE meatloaf) and it wasn't even good enough to come out of a school cafeteria. It was mildly warm, no flavor at all. The veggies served with it were the same - not hot and no flavor or texture.
I am sure we could have (hopefully) caught PTC on a very off day, since we've only been once. Biergarten though we've enjoyed many, many times and had nothing but great results.

We love both....they're on our lists of all time favs I loved the meatloaf and the potroast at 50's PT. Everything at Biergarten is tasty!
In my opinion, food is all a matter of taste...everyone has their likes and dislikes and one person could love something that another hates. I like to read people's reviews on restaurants but I never go by them. I always make up my own mind by experience. Both of these restaurants have amazing atmospheres Enjoy!

I have to laugh at Ashli's response. Different tastes and different experiences make all the difference.
My family loathes Biergarten. We've tried it 3 times, and been underwhelmed/disappointed each time. Mediocre service, at best, and we're not huge fans of the food offerings we've experienced. AND - I love German food, so that's not it. There is no way we'll ever go again.
Now, 50's PT?? A must do for us. Every single trip, no matter what. We have lucked out all but one trip and had the interactions everyone loves. Yes, the servers are not the people who bring out the food all of the time. They usually make sure everything is taken care of and everyone is happy. I'm sad when I hear others didn't have the kind of experiences we do. The food: well, we love the food. To us, it's good home cooking - and after a few days of WDW sit-down meals, "home cooking" is always welcome. I've never had food that wasn't well seasoned or tasty.
The problem with asking people's opinions is you're going to get a 50/50 split most times. Really, it all has to do with what you and your family want and expect. No-one can truly predict whether you'll like it or not until you go.
I guess part of my distaste for PTC (the food) could be exactly why others like it. They go for home-cooked, (mostly Southern) style food that we can get WAY better versions of here at home (in Savannah). Although, I will say that Big River Brewery at WDW does know how to do meatloaf RIGHT. As for the service, I can't come up with any excuses for that from our visit. It was just deplorable.

We had fun at 50's and it was very tasty. It didn't make the cut for our next trip only because we have so many new places we want to try. Biergarten is fabulous and we love it. Top of the list this time again!
It's been a long time since we ate at the 50s Prime Time Café, but we enjoyed our meals there. It's not that we don't like it, but I'm not into the stuff that comes with it particularly. I was paranoid the whole time I was there about finishing my greens and keeping my elbows off the table, as I didn't want to get into trouble.
Biergarten we love - it's got a great selection of food and also we enjoy the German wine. The entertainment's a lot of fun as well. The guy who does the cowbells is amazingly talented.

I really enjoy 50's Prime Time, and I've even eaten there solo. I like the chicken pot pie and salad. It's most enjoyable when you request a fun server. It's also a great place to meet up with Passporters -- back in February, i enjoyed a two-hour lunch/laugh fest with three fellow Passporters -- and we had a fun server. We all liked our food.
I probably need to give the Biergarten another try -- it's been many years since I've eaten there. I recall enjoying the entertainment but finding the food lacking. But since Disney has improved a lot of the restaurants, it could be that the Biergarten offers better fare now.
Hey, enjoy wherever you decide to eat and let us hear about your experiences, OK? Bon appetit!
