Candlelight processional seating

I have some questions about seating & the processional package. I was thinking of getting in line about 30 minutes prior to the 5 o'clock show. But I read that people sometimes line up 2 hours prior to the show ?

Are there really any bad seats at the show ? Do they oversell seats for the shows ?
Will the fireworks viewing area hold all the people from the 3 shows ?

Thanks

I assume you're not getting the dining package? If so, you'll need to line up a lot earlier than 30 minutes before to guarantee getting in. We've seen people getting in line at 1:30pm for the first showing at 5:15pm. Even if you have the dining package, the line will start to snake through Japan and towards Morocco. We've usually lined up in that line at least half an hour beforehand, more like 45 minutes....

You're talking about getting into the "Package holders" line 30 minutes prior?

If that's the case, you'll be fine. The front seats will fill up with those individuals who get into line before you, but you'll not have a problem getting a seat farther back. (In fact, I prefer a seat mid-way back or farther up.)

If you don't have the package, you'll need to be in line hours before the show, and you still might not get in.

I've never had a problem finding a spot to watch the fireworks afterwards. You won't get front-of-the-rail spots, but you can usually find something unless you're there on a actual holiday day.

Ok, having been one of those crazy people who got in line at 2pm one year for the 5pm show, I am going to say don't do it! It was a long long long cold wait!! There were people who got in right up to the end of the show (not in the reserved seating area) who ended up with better seats than me and my mom!! Of course it does depend on the date you are going. I was there December 4-9th in 2008. I'm going again this year the 9th-13th and plan on waiting to get in line for the 5pm show. If we don't get in, we will watch it from in front of the American Pavillion and stand, or come back for one of the other shows. Just not worth standing there for 3 hours in MHO

We will be " package holders" for Sat Dec 15 , 5 pm show. Lea Salonga is the scheduled narrator. My understanding was that they would let non package people take seats 15 min prior to the show starting. Which is why I thought going 30 minutes before show time with a ticket would be enough time.
Do they ever oversell seats ?

There are enough seats for those who have purchased a package. If you have that sticker on your shirt, you'll get in.

If you don't, and you're standing in the non-package line, you have a good chance of not getting in on popular nights.

I'll say again: 30 minutes before the show is plenty of time to get into the package-holder line. You won't get into the front 10-15 rows, but I don't think that's a very good location anyway.

From what I've observed, Eileen's advice is exactly right. You're guaranteed a seat, so don't waste your time standing in that ridiculous line!

CP has gotten so popular that quite often standbys don't get in. I'd get there 30-45 minutes prior. There aren't any real bad seats in the house

The year we did the package, we got there 45 minutes ahead of time and were seated out in a downpour!!!! It was cold and raining so hard that I didn't even dare pull out my camera! DH even went and purchased ponchos as our raincoats were soaked. This year we're taking our chances with the line. We'll see what happens. Crowds are supposed to be low, so I'm hoping we'll get a seat somewhere.
