We use to do all sorts of things - chips and dip, veggies and dip, deli meats, etc but since my dad died and Abby does better with a meal than with finger foods, I make dinner Chrismas Eve now. Usually it depends upon what I have in the house truthfully as to what I make - I don't have any set meal that we eat.
Our Christmas gift to each other this year is ordering some live lobsters with clam chowder from Legal Sea Foods in Boston which I'll cook up for Christmas Eve dinner. That's a splurge which we only do every few years, and the house smells of seaweed for a few days. They wrap the lobsters in seaweed inside a big styrofoam cube, but you can still smell the seaweed even before you get to the lobsters.
Usually, though, we're like CinderA and have whatever we feel like eating. But then, we don't travel or have family in for Christmas, so we eat and do what we want, not making a big deal out of it.

We have done a lot of different things...for many years the whole family went out for Chinese food. I'm talking sisters, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles...the whole family.
In 2009 we lost our matriarch, Gram, and that tradition ended. For the past few years we just got fast food, but this year bc it's only the 3 of us...we are having homemade steak bombs for xmas eve, and going out for Chinese on Xmas day!
When my mom was alive she would do food on Christmas Eve night because that is the night we would all open presents together. But I don't do any big Xmas Eve spread. My DH is usually out of town with work and my kids are usually over at their dad's doing Christmas with him. I do sometimes take the kids out for Chinese on Christmas day because they are one of the only places in town open on Xmas day.
But when I did do appetizers on Xmas Eve the kids favorite one was BBQ Lil Smokies so now that is usually all I make if they are here is some little finger foods. Rotel dip and chips.

We don't have anything particular for dinner, just a normal dinner, but we do eat it a little early. Then later in the evening we do a family Christmas party where we play Christmas games and sing carols and stuff. For that, I bake tons of cookies and we pig out! (It's usually my family, my mom and dad, and this year my dad's parents will be there too. )

We haven't decided yet. Since I am doing both Christmas Eve and Christmas day, I was trying to do a simpler menu for Christmas Eve. DH suggested pizza. :
Youngest son suggested lasagna.....his favorite! The middle son suggested we grill steaks and have a salad. Since I am doing spiral ham and scalloped potatoes on Christmas day, I think I like the idea of dh doing the grilling on Christmas Eve!

I get out of work at 10pm Christmas Eve, but am trying to get out a bit sooner than that. Rae and I have a night planned out. We will drink Hot Chocolate and watch some Christmas movies. I work Christmas Day, but Rae said she might take Elizabeth (1.5 yr old DD to see me at work so we can eat together. She will be making some brisket and other stuff on Christmas Day; so I am looking forward to that.
I'm Italian, so we will be having seafood. I can't get to my family's Feast of the Seven Fishes anymore, because it's too far of a drive for one night, but we will be starting our own tradition this year of seafood with just the four of us and going to church-- I'll see if I can get 7 different kinds of fish.

Our usual tradition is appetizers at my mom's house, but since my mom moved and is still settling in we are going to my brother's house on Christmas Eve. I am not sure what my sister-in-law is planning for dinner, but I know I don't have to make anything this year. I will be taking over a bunch of holiday treats that I make this week though.
