DD's assignment for health class tomorrow is to bring in "a food or drink that has caffeine in it"
I'd like to send something a bit more interesting than a Diet Coke
The idea of foods with added caffeine -- like amped up beef jerky -- really weirds me out. But when I tried to google it, I couldn't find much that wasn't the created caffeine buzz. Really, we don't need caffeine added Cracker Jack!
And although I am sure we already have something in our house, one of those caffeine-you-never-thought-about foods, even my chocolate covered coffee beans don't mention caffeine on the label. Hmmm....
I don't know that it has to list it -- but it will be interesting to see how they have an intelligent conversation on the subject otherwise. Unless that's the point....
I guess my fear is that unless it shows on the label, it's hard to say you met the requirement. But I refuse to buy Monster Energy Drink for a 12 year old, when they get to eat/drink the stuff in class.

Guarana, yerba mate and kola nuts are natural sources of caffeine so anything with these on on the label would work, I'd think. Also, these are really a "hidden" source of caffeine in many products and can pack quite a punch.
Also, this topic perked my curiosity so I did a quick google search. "Hidden caffeine" brought up some interesting sites that may be helpful for you and your daughter.
