I am a long term weight watchers member. I find it impossible to point at WDW. however we were there for almost 3 weeks in july and felt like we had eaten out way too much but i didn't put any weight on. I do try and restrict my desserts and for my next trip have already decided to allow myself desserts at two TS meals only. The rest of the time i try and pick reasonably healthy entrees but i don't overly do it and so far i have always got away with it.
I know this isn't the answer that should be given but....
You're on VACATION! Eat what you want, within reason...I mean don't go hog wild but if you want cheeseburgers, desserts, drinks...whatever....GET THEM! Just get right back on track as soon as you get home. You won't gain as much as you think you might.
I went in Nov. and ate what I wanted, had a FAB at every meal. Not only that but I used a scooter 75% of the time and I only gained 5 lbs.
I have other friends who did the same thing, and same results with them...actually they gained sightly less bc of the walking I think.
Interesting responses with this one. I have also always thought that the activity would make up for the food, but sadly so not the case for me. However... the one time I was actually successful at maintaining and not gaining weight for a trip was when we opted out of doing the dining plan. The dining plan desserts at every meal just kills me and I found that if we ate 2 meals - late breakfast, early dinner and even a sugary snack in the evening I was ok, but doing 3 meals with the desserts was just way to much.
So it can be done, just make sure not to overdo with the idea of burning off everything with the walking.
I was on weight watchers when we went 2 years ago. I did not count points, but I did try to make good choices, had a few desserts and never ever went hungry. I ate well and with all the walking lost 4 pounds that week. You will be fine if you try to make good choices most of the time.
Yes. I am going to WDW on May 1,2013.and I have been doing Weight Watchers and Lean Cuisine meals .I think with all the walking you will be doing you can definatly counter act all the food you will be eating,Just don't over do it.

I think even if you decide not to track your points at WDW, you've probably learned a lot at WW and can make good decisions regarding portion control. Hopefully that and all the walking will keep you even!

I did WW prior to 2 different trips. I never tracked or worried about what I ate while at Disney. I ate and drank like I was on vacation and I never put on a lot of weight. All the walking helps. For me, the hard part was coming home and getting back on track. I never managed to do it - so I would still be eating and drinking like I was on vacation and I stopped tracking. Not good- I put on all the weight I originally lost both times!
I am on WW as well and will try and stick to it knowing that I will have my slips now and then!!! It can be done!!! Good luck... And if you're really bad just make sure you go back to it when you return home.
When we went to WDW in 2005 I'd been very successful on WW. I thought I was making good choices, I drank a lot of water and we did all that walking.
I gained 10 lbs in a week.
My WW leader said there "was no excuse to ever gain on a vacation" so I didn't go back.

I have actually lost weight on two separate cruises, and maintained my weight at WDW...not actively on Weight Watchers at the time (like I am now), but a Lifetime member. The one thing I would NOT do is decide that I'm on vacation and eat like a crazy person for a whole week. You've worked too hard for the progress you've made so far to just sabotage yourself and gain everything back.
A good way to think about it is to make your goal for vacation to not gain back any weight, even though you may be putting your weight-loss work to the side temporarily.
My suggestion: Pick two meals ahead of time that you'll give yourself permission to splurge on, and eat sensibly for all the others. Knowing that you'll be able to go crazy a couple of times will help you stay in line. And, if you're a huge fan of the Dole Whips or Mickey bars, maybe plan for one of those, too....maybe near the end of your stay so you have that to look forward to. Bring good-for-you breakfast foods like oatmeal, fat-free yogurt or fruit to eat in your room , and low-point snacks for the park. Eating breakfast out really causes me to overeat, so I avoid that where possible. Try to get lots of fresh fruit--do a grocery stop or have a local company deliver it, and see if you can bring a cooler if there's no fridge in your room. I've been known many times to bring a ham or PBJ sandwich into the park for my lunch.
At DLR last September, I had several light, healthy meals by picking the kid's meals with carrots or applesauce on the side.
Maybe you could get a decent pedometer so you can see how much you're walking. That would help you figure out whether you've walked enough to gain activity points.

PS: If you're going with kids, you can get them on board! My DS13 loves using the calculator to help figure out how many points a meal is, so if you can make it a family game, it can even be fun. My family isn't pressuring me or sabotaging me; they're supporting me, so I hope you get that same help, too.
