Me, DH and DD4 (who loves the water) have a 1BR BCV booked in November for the W&D 1/2 marathon. I have never stayed in deluxe or the villas before and I am working on owning DVC this year after we are able to buy our house. I have read a lot on here about how great BCV are but then I also see a lot about BWV. Which resort is better in your opinion and why? I really want an awesome resort/room so that I can easily convince DH to get into DVC.
Both Beach Club Villas and Boardwalk Villas are great choices. With a daughter who loves the water, I would keep Beach Club due to Stormalong Bay. It may be s bit chilly in November, but the pools are heated and if your daughter is like mine, she won't let the cold stop her from enjoying the pool.
I don't swim much, so I prefer Boardwalk because it's a quicker walk to Hollywood Studios. Beach Club Villas are slighly close to Epcot, though.
The extra space in a 1-bedroom should be a major draw for your husband, especially if you have previously stayed only at Value and Moderate resorts. The villas are similar at both resorts. So, you won't go wrong with either choice.
Looking forward to a Disney Dream Cruise in October 2016
My personal feel. BWV has more of an adult feel to it. BCV draws for me because of the pool. I personally like DVC resorts where you can park your car next to your villa. Neither of these you can. They also share bus transportation with other resorts.
As far as room goes. Check out you tube. There are most likely good videos there. Maybe this will help with a visual.
It's purely a subjective question with no clear answer.
In my opinion, most BoardWalk rooms have better views. The BW itself has more "wow" factor. There are more dining options on the BW. BW centrally located between Hollywood Studios and Epcot. As an owner, I appreciate the ability to save money by booking the Standard View rooms.
Beach Club has the better pool. Self parking is much more conveniently located. Epcot is very close (with the trade-off being DHS is so far that you really need to rely on boat transportation.) There are some rooms where you can see Epcot fireworks but you're looking at "backstage" areas of the park and those rooms are also close to the main road.
Inside the rooms the layout and decor is very similar. No noteworthy differences there.
BoardWalk has always been my personal favorite. Beach Club Villas feels like an afterthought...which it truly was since it was added about 10 years after the BC opened. The location isn't great. I really hate the boat service in that area but it's a virtual necessity for Hollywood Studios since the walk is about 30 minutes.
Pool is clearly better at BC but BW is superior in other ways, IMO.
Are the 1 bedroom layouts not better at the BWV? I had read somewhere that in BCV, WLV and SSR, 1 BedR if you want to use the pull out sofa in the lounge it doesn't leave much space between the sofa bed and the kitchen. I had thought the BWV lounge had better dimensions from looking at floor plans which is why it is higher up my bucket list than BCV.
Also we have always loved the feel of the Boardwalk we visit it every trip.
I think they both have their pluses and minuses. I have seen them compared so many times on forums and there is no clear cut winner. BCV is home for us but I do think it is very subjective and really comes down to personal taste. Unless of course you have issues with clowns - then stay far away from BWV
I stayed in both and I prefer BCV over BWV. BWV, to me, had no WOW factor. Ya know, the moment you walk into a resort, and it takes your breath away. We did not get to use the swimming pool at BWV, but we did use both the Villas pool and Stormalong Bay. The room we had at BWV was really nice, loved the decor, but it was so far away from the lobby, or any exit.
BC has places to eat, unlike BWV that has a very small kiosk set up inside, otherwise you need to exit to find something to eat.
