I have been researching resales and I have found what seems to be good deals for $200 points at around $11000-12000 at OKW. I have never been to this resort so how is it in comparison to the other DVC resorts?

OKW has the biggest rooms on property. Many people love it. We did like the space in our room. But our visit was over shadowed by poor maintenance. I know these things can be an isolated event. But I don't plan on visiting anytime soon. But for your family size would be ideal.
We've always enjoyed our stay there, it's a beautiful resort. Not only are the rooms bigger, but you can usually reserve them for less points per night too. The resort is a lot more quiet than other DVC locations, which sometimes can feel a bit serene. We've never had a bad meal at Olivia's (the TS restaurant there) and the boat ride to DTD is pretty nice.
The downsides are that you are closer to DTD than the parks, but the bus rides really aren't that long. Buses do tend to get crowded though as they make their way through the entire resort picking up passengers.
We've only stayed there once, but had a very enjoyable experience. The main pool is very nice. The rooms are HUGE and very comfortable. You can stay there on lower points. The patio was very nice, but didn't get to use it much. The resort is very spread out but breathtaking. The boat to DTD is a plus. The CM there were very good our ENTIRE STAY. That's huge to us since we visit WDW every year. We would definitely stay there again and considering buying points there if we could. Good luck in your decision.
I only stayed there once, too, but loved the resort. We were in a building right across from the Hospitality House, which made taking the buses to the parks easier, as well as getting to the boat to DTD, and the pool!

We love love LOVE OKW!! As stated, the rooms are bigger and the point value generally a little lower. We love the theming and the way the resort is laid out. We've never had bus issues, and we also love that you can park your car near your villa.
Our biggest "love" about it is this: OKW was the original DVC resort. You truly get a DVC feel about it. From the photos of happy DVC families in Olivia's to the the DVC ferry, you really feel like you are a part of the DVC family. The resort is not just an add-on to another resort (don't get me wrong..we love our primary resort, VWL, but its still part of another resort) and there is a real DVC feel to it.
Just remember, DVC points are like chocolate....addicting and soon you will be wanting more!
OKW is our home resort and our favorite resort in WDW. We have never had any issues with maintenance or problems with a room. The rooms went through a refurb a couple years ago. We like the size of the rooms, the boat to DTD and how the quiet the resort is. There is also a walkway to DTD is you prefer to walk. If you stay in the HH area the bus system works very good because you can board the bus at the last stop and when coming back you can get off at the first stop on Pennisular Rd. and its a short walk back to the room.
We've stayed there twice: 2-bedroom in 2010 and studio in 2012.
The rooms are very large and comfortable. The patio in the 2-bed was amazing and right on the golf course. The main pool was great & fun waterslide. We've always had wonderful service and wonderful food at Olivia's. We've taken the boat to DTD on both stays and found it very relaxing and enjoyable. While others have said the bus service was not good, we cannot complain. Because it is a large resort, you will be making several stops on the bus.
Complaints that OKW is far from the parks is really in perception. If you look at a map, it's not far at all from HS or EP. The bus drivers use a short cut to MK, too. Yes, the AK park is a little farther, but not bad in my opinion.
We really enjoyed both stays at OKW. I would definitely recommend it.
Although we enjoyed the size of the resort at OKW, (that was our first time staying in a 2 BR), we didn't really care for anything else about the resort. The shower in one of the baths was not clean, and the room in general looked like it was due for a rehab. That said, lots of people do enjoy OKW, so it's a matter of preference.
We bought a resale at OKW and stayed at several other resorts before staying at OKW. We really loved it! We were close to the hospitality house so were able to walk to the main pool and Olivia's. There were also 2 bus stops within walking distance so we were usually at the last stop for pick ups but would get off at the first dropping off when coming back to the resort. We did not have a car and it was not a problem. The rooms were huge and worked out well for our family of 5 to not feel squished together. We have also been able to use our point to stay at BCV and SS.
