Copper Creek model rooms

We were lucky enough yesterday to have a look at the new model rooms for Copper Creek at the Wilderness Lodge. They're on show to DVC members at the DVC preview centre with no appointment needed between 1:00pm and 4:00pm daily. We literally showed up and got a tour in less than five minutes. If you're serious about adding on points, and the same goes for anyone wanting to become a Member, you will need to schedule an appointment to meet with a Guide.

We both really liked the model rooms, and thought they were a lot lighter than we expected. We were struck by the layout of the kitchen - all on one wall - and I liked the area to hang things. I didn't photograph every single detail, as we were there with others, but I got as many shots as I could to hopefully give everyone a good idea of what they look like... .

The kitchenette in a studio

The studio bathroom

The bedroom/living area of the studio apologies some of the shots are a bit dark here

The living area of a one-bedroom villa

The kitchen

I really liked this area to hang things

The bathroom in the one bedroom villa

The bedroom in the one bedroom villa

The washer/dryer unit

Prolly just me, but I think the decor rather jarring.

It's a peculiar combination of hotel-modern with little rustic touches here and there.

I really like how the tree slice headboard is echoed by the artwork that looks like tree rings.

The rest of the furniture looks like DIYs from IKEA. Just doesn't say wilderness resort at all to me.

The more I look at this, the more I'm not sure about it. I LOVE the soaking tub. But it does look more modern than what I'd expect from the Wilderness Lodge. It's a little too sterile/cold/generic. What I think is best about DVC is that they do feel homey. This one misses that for me.

I know that's how a number of people felt about it on Facebook when I posted some photos there, so you are not alone in those views, trust me.

We're hoping to spend some time here in January 2018, especially having watched work on the rooms over the last couple of weeks when we stayed at Boulder Ridge.

Copper Creek model rooms

I get how some are saying the decor is a bit hodge podge. The backstory explains it a bit. https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...derness-lodge/
In general, the outdoorsy theme at a luxury resort I think poses a bit of a challenge. The wilderness is intrinsically not luxury.
But I'll still want to stay here, especially at the holidays just for the WL Lobby and tree. And the new restaurant looks like a place I would enjoy.

Interesting - thanks for that link. We had breakfast at Geyser Point and it's a great addition. It was very cool to sit there with amazing views out across the lake.

Wait..so are all the DVC rooms renovated to look like this. I'm so confused because I thought they were just adding the cabins, do they renovate more?

No, there are now two DVC resorts at Wilderness Lodge - Boulder Ridge, which is the original development. The new development is cabins, plus rooms in the main building, some overlooking the atrium and they're called Copper Creek. Trust me, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it as well.

I read somewher that the entire south wing of WL was to be converted to villas.

That would be the floors above the gift shop and front desk which may help you orient better just where the CCV section is. Across the lobby from Whispering Canyon, for another aid to picturing its location.

That sounds right - those were the areas we saw with barriers up, so work is definitely going on with those...
