| When I was a kid in the 70's, we spent many a vacation in FL. At that time, WDW was one park and three resorts (counting FW) so on two week trips we went to WDW for a few day and then we visited other parts of the state. I have gone from Panama City Beach to the Keys and almost everywhere in between. We always managed to take in all the tourist things along the way like Wikki Watchi, Silver Springs and even a few gator farms. These days, you couldn't pry me away from WDW.

| While I was growing up my grandparents lived in Naples and we used to drive down for two weeks every Easter, so I have driven through most of the state. Places I have actually stopped and visited are: Naples/Marco Island/Ft. Myers/Ft. Myers Beach/Sanibel south to Everglades City and east as far as Ochopee Tallahassee when my Aunt went to Florida State University there Tampa/St. Pete area when my Aunt lived there, including Busch Gardens Downtown Orlando/Winter Park visiting same Aunt (she moved a lot! )Kissimmee after Grandpa divorced and remarried Cape Canaveral area and KSC Key West (we flew down from Naples, so I'd like to drive down someday and check out all the little Keys along the way) I've also been to Miami and West Palm Beach if you count time spent at airports. I haven't spent much time on the East Coast, and suppose I ought to go see St. Augustine and Daytona, but the only other place I end up besides WDW is Naples these days. Someday...

| Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Fort Meyers, and Sanibel. We vacationed in Florida every year (with at least a few days at Disney) when I was a kid.

| Travel through the panhandle and then south to Leesburg(father-in-law is there) then from there to Tampa, Tampa to Orlando, Orlando to Disney Wonder. Choir tour even went to Hollywood, Florida years ago. Been to Daytona, Jacksonville, Homassosa(sp?) to see the manatees! Crystal river, too. Here and there. |

| Cheryl thank you for posting this question. I was born in Ft. Lauderdale, and grew up mainly amongst Deerfield Beach, Boynton Beach, Boca Raton, Wellington, and North Palm Beach(West Palm Beach Area), however have visited Orlando several times, Cape Canaveral, Jacksonville, Miami/South Beach, Daytona Beach, Ft. Myers, Sanabel Island, Marco Island, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Amelia Island (which is beautiful), and San Fernadina Beach, however there is still plenty of Florida that I have never been to still. I have yet to go to the Keys, Tallahassee (where I wanted to go to college), and plenty more. I'd love to see if there are any other Born and Raised Floridians who have still not traveled through more of Florida. Last edited by BeckiO5; 04-01-2009 at 04:19 AM.. |
