City of the week is back from vacation hiatus!

This week, I met a lovely women who spends her summers in the Poconos and her winters in Punta Gorda, Florida. So I thought that it would be a good choice for our city of the week!

Punta Gorda, which is on the gulf side of Florida, sits on the Peace River and Charlotte Harbor, and was hard hit in 2004 by Hurricane Charley. The town was founded in the late 19th century, and incorporated in 1887. It was the southernmost stop on the American railroad line, making it both an attractive place for industry and a tough and shady place! Growth continued throughout the 20th century, and that growth has increased since the devastation of 2004. Today, Punta Gorda is well on it's way to becoming one of the most beautiful cities in Florida!

There are many wonderful restaurants to choose from, but this one caught my eye: Smuggler's Restaurants and Sports Bars How can you go wrong at a place that overlooks the water?
