| City of the Week: Homestead Sorry about the hiatus, but City of the Week is back, and this week, we are spotlighting Homestead, Florida. Homestead is the second oldest city in Miami-Dade County. It was originally open to "homesteaders" in 1898, and was accessible through a path called the "homesteader's trail" (Do we see a pattern here?  ) Between 1904 and 1912, the railroad was built through, and in 1913, the City of Homestead was officially incorporated!Homestead is nestled between Miami, Biscayne Bay Biscayne National Park - Biscayne National Park (U.S. National Park Service), the Florida Keys and the wonderful Everglades.
