| One thing to remember - shuttle scrubs and delays are very common -- and might impact your ability to see the launch.

| Very aware of that, so of course, we know this part of the journey is iffy, but would like to know what is available to us enen without a launch.

| You can stay in Titusville or Cape Canaveral (I would do the cape - there are more options) and there are some nice, moderate hotels like the rather new Hampton Inn as well as higher priced options. Are you considering a full day of touring the KSC? Since I've never been there for a launch of the shuttle (although I did see a satellite launch from the hotel pool when I was in the neighborhood for a conference), not sure where to see the launch from. I know some areas that used to be open are now closed for security.

| I don't know - I haven't done it since 1976 - but I know it includes Launch pad 1 and 39A or B (whichever shuttle one is not in use at that time). Here is the link with the tour discussions for KSC from the KSC main page - NASA - Tour Kennedy

| Haven't done the tour in many years, but those who have been there recently say it is fabulous, and definitely worth taking the whole day for. There's also the "Lunch with an astronaut" program which is on our list of things to do.

| We did the tour last year. It's great You go to the Saturn V center, the observation gantry (where you can see the shuttle on the launchpad if it's there) and the International Space Station stop (although we missed that one - too late). The up close tours are supposed to be great as well but they sell out early, so if you really want to do one, get there first thing in the AM ![]()
