Anybody know if the new simulator "ride" is open at KSC yet?

When I was there in January our tour guide gave it a big buildup, said it would make Mission Space look like a mall ride. (Or words to that effect. ) Seems to me he said there would even been a few seconds of weightlessness? Sounded so cool, my dh will go back to KSC for this. Me too, but I don't need that much extra incentive! (DD picked the "M&M")

We rode it last month. There were a ton of warnings up..back problems, heart conditions, high b/p..you know the drill. Now, my dd (14) and I have ridden M:S about 10 times now...both sides, since it opened. In fact, we were there the day it officially opened. So, I was a bit surprised when my dd got really upset with all the 'warnings' that were posted at KSC for this ride. But, my ds and I rode it anyway. Have to say that I was severly disappointed. It was no rougher than Star Tours. My dd watched us from above...she said it looked like a pretty tame experience!! Sure was. M:S was much more intense..even the green side. I never felt the weightlessness. It was a bit of a letdown. But, I did hear people saying how much they liked it, so I guess there are those who will appreciate it.

Thanks, glad to know it's open. Not sure if we'll make it this time, don't know what we'd do with the 4 yo...

I agree completely. Mission:Space (original version) has been my favorite from day one. I LOVE the lift-off and how even with 4 people in a "pod" the design lets you forget about whomever is next to you and just enjoy the experience. I was SO anticipating KSC's Shuttle Experience to be even better, considering all the hype. I DO like it and think it's a "don't miss" for everyone, but it was a huge let-down after the hype. I was too aware of all the other "passengers" and the atmosphere was very much like Star Tours - fun, but not realistic enough to imagine even for a second that it was "real." However, I LOVED the pre-show - very interesting and impressive!

Go on the Shuttle Experience for "the experience," but don't set your expectations too high if you have already been on Epcot's Mission:Space. Shuttle Experience "shakes you up" a lot instead of letting you "feel the G's" like Mission:Space. Enjoy both for what they are.
