| Headed to Florida In April...HELP! DH and I are taking a cruise out of Miami in April. We will have just one full day in Miami. What would you recommend as a must do? We plan on spending 2 days in Key West when we return from the cruise...again, what are the must do's?

| Can't help you with Miami, but Key West is AWESOME! We only had one day there as a port of call for the cruise, and we loved it so much we are planning on going back for a vacation! We basically did a walking tour (didn't do any shore excursions) and saw the aquarium, the ligthouse, the southermost point of the US, and ate lunch at Margaritaville. We also loved taking in the local flavor and culture of the area. Very laid back and relaxed! Here is the link to my trip report with pictures from our day at Key West: Steve and Sue do a Magical Cruise:***Updated 7/20 - Day 8...a new adventure begins....*** (You will probably have to scroll down some!)

| What do you like to do or see Debbie? I mean, there is so much to see and do in both places... I recommend what Sue did in Key West, that way you can get an idea of where you want to zoom in on the second day. What are the dates you will be there, I can check to see what special things might be going on, I still have a few contacts down there...

| Bill, we are pretty open to things...aquariums, tours, walking, pirates, etc. Lee does scuba dive, and so that is a definite interest on his part. We we will be in Miami on April 17th (we arrive around 5 pm) so dinner will be a must that evening. We will have all day on the 18th to explore. We sail out on the 19th around 4pm. We know nothing about Miami except South Beach. Again, we are pretty open, and since time is so limited, we are looking for suggestions that would make our short time there enjoyable. We disembark from our ship on the morning of the 24th, and plan on having a rental available so we can take off for Key West right from the dock. We will have the rest of the 24th and most of the 25th to explore Key West before we head back to Miami and catch a flight home early on the 26th. I guess another question would be about accommodations. I see online that it is a bit pricey to stay in Key West...any suggestions on where to stay? Same question in Miami, any suggestions on hotels near the Port of Miami would be appreciated! Quote:

| Anywhere in Key West is gonna be pricey, that's the end of their tourist (expensive) season... I'll do some checking over the next couple of days and see what I can come up with...

| Miami - Miami is a big area. I would look at Coconut Grove area - there is a HUGE amount of construction along the bayfront area (near the port). What part of town is your hotel located in??

| No hotels as of yet, but will undoubtedly be looking in the general vicinity of the Cruise Port. (Port of Miami 1015 N America Way Miami, Fl 33132).

| We'll be headed down to Miami in 10 days We are staying in Key Bicayne. I will sooo not fit in the South Beach area so we opted so stay a little further south. I don't how close to the port it is though. For your stay in Key West the Pier House is one of my favorites http://pierhouse.com/ It's right next to Mallory Square (where they have the sunset celebration everynight) and at the end of Duval Street.

| Since we're planning to roam a little farther afield on our next Florida vacation, these suggestions and ideas will come in really handy for us as well. Joy

| Oh man that's too bad that Pier House is sold out! This one Ocean Key Resort is next door to the Pier House and just as nice. Maybe they will have something. ![]()
