Were any of you at the Cape to see the launch of Endeavour? Any pictures to share?

Well I came close. I saw the launch pad in October with the previous Shuttle ready to launch. That would have been an amazing site at night. I did have to spend one day away from WDW to see the KSC but I loved it.

Glad to know that you enjoyed your day trip to the Space Center. Wouldn't it be great to see a night time launch? I'd love to see pictures if anyone here was able to see that.

Yep, we saw the 2:28 am launch. I wasn't going to venture out but the whole neighborhood came to life around 2:10am with people walking out to the beach. We walked out to the beach around 2:20 and the launch was spectacular! Lit up the whole sky. It was realyl weird, too see all the people out on the beach at 2 in the morning but the weather was perfect and wonderful and the launch was great! Night launches are better. No pictures though... the whole sky was lit up for about 20 seconds then the shuttle went behind the clouds and that was it.....

Now, we didn't know about the Delta 2 Rocket being launched from the Cape Air Force Base but it woke us out of a dead sleep (again at 2am). You felt the force of it and it was quite like a California earthquake in central Florida!

Seeing Shuttle launch from Jetty Park

We live about 8 miles from the space center. A good place to view a launch is Jetty Park in Cape Canaveral. There is a $5 charge to get into the park for the launch. We usually go 4-5 hours ahead to get a good parking place. We take a picnic lunch with us and enjoy the view and there is always a festive atmosphere there. This is also a great place to watch the Magic and Wonder leaving the port. The Wonder usually goes out around 5pm on Sunday. It is quite a site. We hope to be on the Magic when it makes the transatlantic ship to Spain.

I was raised near Vandenberg Air Force Base near Santa Barbara, California. Thats where they fire missles on the west coast. I have seen a large number of launches over the years. Some at night and they just look amazing. I seem them usually from about 15 miles away. And they look very bright. Unfortunately because of the Space Shuttle Challenger accident they canceled the Shuttle taking off from Vandenberg. I was very disappointed by that.
