The Drive!!

I know I need to go to AAA and get maps, but I thought I'd throw out the question. We will be driving from WDW to Cape Canaveral area. How!?!!?!?!? Is it one road straight across? Is it a toll? (something so foreign to us west coast folks) I heard it takes about an hour, is that true? We would like to spend part of the day at a park and then head off to our condo, but I want to make sure it's not a complicated long drive...... You know, as I re-read, I drive very busy Los Angeles freeways, but now I'm stressed out about the drive across FL. Weird huh?? (Don't tell my husband that I asked for directions)

It is a very straightforward drive but it is a toll road. Bring a bunch of change. It's a very easy drive; nothing like the LA freeway

Yes, it's now called the beachline expressway.

yep, it's the same road... It's also called 528. It's quite a quiet ride, mostly on a two-lanes in each direction road.

The cost for the toll road will run you less than $5.00... just bring quarters and you can go through the "no cnage required" toll booth and zip through. I'm from San Diego and these freeways are a piece of cake to what I'm used to! It'll run you an hour from DW to Cape Canaveral.

For good lunch/dinner, head to Fish Lips or Grills at the Port. Cruise ships depart from the Port every day, usually between 4-5:30pm. Go to Jetty Park to watch them leave. It's pretty cool. Have a fun trip!
