| Stupid out-of-stater question Being from Southern Ca, I am used to heat and having been born in MA, I am used to humidity, so we are preparing as best we can for both. Here's the stupid question. We will be staying in Cocoa Beach for some R&R after WDW and I'm wondering if it cools down at night by the beach? Here in CA it can get downright cool at night by the beach. How about in sunny FL?

| yes, some But in July, I can't remember how much (probably not enough to remember). Check weather.com for the zip code you are going to. I haven't lived on the coast for 4+ years. Gosh, I feel like it has been forever. Sorry, I couldn't help more. I wish I was going with you.

| Grace, Florida weather is easy for people from California(Like me) just stick your head in a oven during a rain storm. Its pretty much that feeling. LMAO!! We were in Orlando in October and the nights were not bad. Good luck adjusting.

| i live near the other coast (other coast in fla, that is, the southern tampa bay area) and it is not cooler by the beach unless you consider 75 or so cool. if i hang out by the beach at night, i sometimes take a windbreaker, it can get breezy. now, over in cocoa, the water temps are quite a bit lower (here, it will be 90 in the water, maybe high 70's and 80's in the atlantic ocean...correct me if i am wrong those of you who live over there). i love the analogy of sticking your head in an oven in a rain storm...you hit it right on the head! |

| A difference between the Florida and California beaches is that Florida doesn't have a cold off-shore current. So, while both get breezes in off the water in the evening, the Florida breezes aren't pulling chilled air with them.

| We did the opposite & went to Cocoa Beach before WDW, last August. It does get a tad cooler at night, but not much. There is a pier that has a few restaurants on it. Fun for dinner. They also have live music at night too. Check out Ron Jon's surf shop. My dd's took surf lessons from them. They loved it. I lived in San Diego for 10 yrs, the main diff. in temp. is the humidity. SoCal doesn't come close to the humidity in Fla, & makes it feel allot hotter. So be sure you stay hydrated.

| I definitely need to go to RonJon's. I can't believe how many people have told me not to miss it. Thanks for the info about temp. Do drinks with umbrellas count for hydration? I'm pretty sure I know the answer to that question. Kim

| I lived in San Diego my whole life until 6 months ago when we relocated 5 miles north of Cocoa Beach. Our sumemr nights here are off the hook, beautiful! Yes, it is warm but I love it! I'll take humidity and warmer ocean water temp over summers with 100+ degree weather where we lived in the east part of San Diego. I also love, love, love our thunderstorms here everyday. And that is just it, it can be 90 and humid but once a storm comes through it cools it off to the high 70's. Orlando can be quite stifling though. But not even the heat there has kept us away from day trips to WDW. Just bring bug spray for the mosquitoes. Try the Shark Pit restaurant in the Cocoa Beach Surf Co (right next to Ron Jon's), great food and a fab rteef/shark tank. Also, the Holiday Inn (about a mile so. of RJ's) has a tiki bar, called Coconuts right on the beach. |
