| We went to Sanibel Island in October 2007, and the one thing I absolutely, positively recommend is that you do Captiva Cruises. It was awesome! Their website is;Captiva Cruises - The best on Captiva Island and Sanibel Island for sightseeing cruises, nature cruises, dolphin watch and wildlife cruises, and shelling cruises to Cabbage Key, Useppa Island, Boca Grande, Pine Island Sound, and Cayo Costa We did the Dolphin and Wildlife Adventure cruise, and it was $20 per person. We saw dolphins super super close. The narrator was just so cool. She knew tons of stuff, and was extremely interesting to listen to! Our view of the dolphins! ![]() The boat Last edited by ilovedisney0_0; 07-06-2008 at 06:21 PM.. |

| Oh my you are going to have such fun......have been going to Sanibel off and on for years. Be sure to go to the beach early morning just as the sun is rising and go shelling. Sanibel lies east to west instead of north to south so it catches a huge gigantic amount of shells. Check local paper for low tide days and times, low tide is great. You get to walk so far out into the gulf that you can't at other times and the shells and marine animals are interesting that get caught in the tide pools. The restaurants are fantastic Bubble room, Island Cow, Cheeseburger Cheeseburger, the Mucky Duck the list goes on and on. Captiva Cruises that Amy suggested are fun, there are fishing boats you can hire to go fishing for tarpon or grouper I forget. The wildlife refuge is fun to go through. You can dive or snorkle at Edison Reef or several other reefs. There is so much to do and see there. I could go on and on.....Have a wonderful time........if you need more information there is the chamber of commerce when you first come off the causeway, they should have more information. have a blast!!!

The atmosphere in there is great. We stopped there for breakfast one morning. I got the yogurt and granola, and it was heavenly!! And Mucky Duck is the coolest place... go there when you have time to chill on the beach and watch the sunset. | |

| It's a great island for families. We always stay at a condo from a private renter with no problems. What others said I second. Kids loved the Bubble Room. It's on the Captiva Island, but driving between the two islands is not very long, and the toll bridge is small. We loved shelling at dawn, especially at low tide. The water is crystal blue and the sand is beautiful. Do try to get out on a boat. We loved the Captiva Tour too. In the middle of Sanibel, there are nice stores in a shopping complex, complete with caged parrots and other birds. Site see. Also, at the other end of the island is a public beach that you can't swim at. However, it is a great place to see dolphins close to shore. Also, there's a lighthouse. Enjoy your trip. We like the peaceful nature of the island. |
