| I saw today that Atlantis' scheduled Oct. 10 launch may be delayed (suprise, suprise), but they have positioned Endeavor on pad 39B in case Atlantis has problems during the mission.... Wow! I'll bet that would be quite a sight to see with two on the pads at once!

I am not sure why they have both shuttles up there - in the 4 years I have lived here I have never seen that before. Over the weekend, one of the news stations showed a picture and it looked pretty neat! We took the tour last year, but the pads were empty. I thought I heard that they were launching at night, but I could be wrong...

| Thanks for the updates. The latest information we had was that the shuttle had been delayed and the new date was 10th Oct. The launch time that is posted in the NASA site is 12.43AM, that to me means a night launch. I guess I jsut keep checking the web site and hope that we don't miss it.

| A night launch is visible from Orlando - no great detail, but still pretty impressive. We saw the one in 2006 (?) and it was way more spectacular than I'd imagined. It was like watching a second sunrise. The entire horizon turned orange.

| Yes, there was a night launch in December of 2006 and it was spectacular. I live about 35 miles west of KSC and it really lit up the sky. It was announced on the news this am that the Atlantis mission scheduled for Oct has been postponed until early next year, due to problems with the telescope....
