| Hi this is my first post. We will be returning to WDW for our second trip in June of this year. We want to take our boys to the beach one day - which is the best beach to visit and how far of a drive is it from WDW? We hope to eat breakfast at WDW then head out to the beach until late afternoon then head back to WDW for dinner and possible time at a park that evening. I was wondering if you seasoned WDW veterans think that is too much for one day??? Thanks so much for your help! Have a great day!! |

| Welcome to the boards. The Gulf and Atlantic beaches are about an hour and 15 minutes away. I prefer the Gulf side myself. Breakfast at WDW, then driving to the beach before heading back for dinner and park time is probably too ambitious.

| Hi and welcome to the boards. Hope you have fun here. Like jimmymac said both coast are not far away. If you do the Atlantic side, other than the beaches, you have Kennedy Space Center if you want to take a tour. |

| We're in both areas every year and we prefer the Gulf Coast. Fitting it all in is a bit of a stretch. The Gulf Coast if you head to Clearwater/St. Pete's area is 90 minutes, the cocoa Beach area slightly closer but not by much. If the park you want to visit upon your return has evening EMH an you'll have dinner there then it might work but it still seems to be a bit much.

| Thanks everyone for your help. We will plan on the beach being its own day. Thanks for your tip on going to the Gulf coast - any beach you prefer on that side? One last question and please tell me if I should look for this part in another forum. We will need to rent a car for our day trip to the beach. Is there a place to rent a car at WDW? Thanks again. |

| We're traveling in August and are spending our first day and night at Cocoa Beach. We'll then check out and go to the Kennedy Space Center and travel on to Disney. We're staying at the Best Western Cocoa Beach. I've read nothing but good reviews. It's right on the beach and very close to the pier with restaurants, nightclubs, etc... Here's the link Best Western Ocean Beach Hotel and Suites Have Fun |

WDW car Care Center has Alamo & National car rentals. Many hotels in DTD have car rental desks too. Doubletree has Budget, and Hilton has Avis or Hertz, can't remember!
