| Fun stop between Key West and Orlando? We are doing this drive (about seven hours) in one day, and looking for a place to stress our legs and have some fun. Ideally it would be an attraction that could be done in two to three hours, as we will have dinner plans in Orlando. Maybe something in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, or possibly one of the northern keys? It does not need to be exactly halfway. Thanks!

| What about stoping at a Ft. Lauderdale beach for a swim and lunch? Some R&R on the beach? You didn't mention what time of year though! The Miami Zoo or Aquarium would take more than 2 or 3 hrs. There is also Parrott World, and the Monkey Jungle. Viscaya (children wouldn't be interested in this). In Ft. Lauderdale they have a water taxi that goes thru all the canals and is fun. You can get off to eat at a restaurant, then catch it back to your first stop. The boat capt. gives a running narration of all the places you pass, loads of mansions back onto the canals, and it's a who's who of the rich and famous! Have fun planning!

| I'd reccommend and ecotour in Key Largo with a private charter boat Captain. You can pick one up at the Dove Creek Lodge, which is also a great place to visit. I took one with Captain Mike Makowski. His boat is small enough that you can go through Mangrove tunnels and see amazing things. You tell him what you are interested in seeing, and he will try to find it for you. I got in touch with him through the desk at the Dove Creek Lodge, but he also has a web site. I would not necessarily reccommend the restaurant next door to the Dove Creek Lodge, though. The view is great, the service is good, but the food was very expensive for what it was, even by NYC area standards.

| Take an air-boat ride. They are easy to come by and a real treat. |

| Thanks for all the great ideas! We're thinking about doing the airboat ride here - Explore the South Florida Everglades with Sawgrass Recreation Park's Everglades Airboat Tours It's about halfway, it's affordable, and it has great reviews all over the internet. Has anyone here done this one?
