| A tour of Florida non-Disney style We just got back from FL and didn't go to WDW. Gasp! I know, the kids were disappointed but we had a great time nonetheless. We checked out Lion Country Safari in Loxahatchee, FL. It was great. You rode through the zoo in your car and the animals were free. Needless to say. when the rhino crosses the road in front of your car, you hope your car insurance premiums have been paid! We also checked out the Atlantic Ocean in Ft. Lauderdale and Lake Worth. The boys body surfed and had a great time collecting seashells. Then we went to Kennedy Space Center. Words can't describe how awesome that was. It definitely is a 6-8 hour visit. We drove to the Gulf side and went to the Homasassas Springs Wildlife Park. We saw six incredible manatees as well as a 49 year old hippo. It was definitely a cool place to visit. Jane |

| Lots to do in Florida. Before WDW we had a 2 1/2 weeks in Florida, we went to Key West, Ft. Lauderdale, and Cocoa Beach, before arriving in WDW. Just got back 3 days ago. Last year we checked out the Gulf Coast, St. Pete Beach. Loved that too!

| Glad you had a good time. We did take one day to do a "non park" day, and went to Coco Beach. On the way to Coco Beach, we stopped along the St. Johns River in Christmas, Florida and did an airboat ride. What an incredible thrill!!! we loved every minute of it. For an hour and a half we zipped along the river with our private guide, and saw wild horses on islands, cows in the river (yes..cows!!) so much wildlife..including gators. And we also went into a gorgeous Cypress Tree Grove which was so educational. The airboat zipped along both water and land...it was so cool. We wore headphones so we could hear what our guide was saying. The Airboat we book was through A-Awesome Airboat rides (this is a small airboat which is private..just for you and your family of up to 5 people). A small boat like this can go into the Cypress grove, while the other larger ones cannot. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to take a break from the parks.

| I'm so glad you had a good time. It sounds like fun. We like doing FL without going to WDW too. I love seeing Manatees in the wild. They are so ugly, they are cute. I'm going to have to check out that Lion Country Safari sometime. It sounds great.
