| Everglades Qs We'll be in Florida in late Nov and really want to visit the Everglades. How much time should we allow? Any hotel advice? I went to a couple of hotel sites and they aren't terribly helpful. The advice on Homestead area hotels seems to be "avoid at all costs"

| We like to go to Shark Valley, it's north of Homestead, so not as long of a drive from Orlando. It has a tram with a naturalist guide. We found it very interesting. http://www.everglades.national-park....ley-trails.htm hope this helps.

| Don't know if that link worked, but i went on the nps.gov site (national park service) and searched Shark Valley. Then if you go on mapquest for directions, there is an option to find hotels. Looks like there are a few hotels, Hampton Inn, Best Western, etc. Good luck.

| Thanks. The NPS site was down for a couple of days. We'll be heading to the Everglades from Ft Myers, so the drive over/down isn't much of a concern.

| I liked the Shark Valley entrance because of the tram ride and naturalist. It's an old oil road they use that goes out. Their used to be an oil rig, back in the day, when they allowed oil drilling in the Everglades
